...does not support sending jobs overseas.
But believes that corporations that make much of their profits overseas, should be taxed at a higher rate than corporations that operate on American soil.
My Party does not support the ACA (Obamacare) as the final solution to healthcare reform. We support the ACA over any Republican proposal because they support going back to the old rip-off system or worse. We support a single payer system that minimizes or totally obliterates insurance companies controlling the prices of healthcare in our country.
My Party believes in a graduated income tax. Those folks that make the most profit off the labor and resources of our country should pay a higher tax than those at the very bottom.
My Party does not believe in torturing of prisoners or anyone. And we do not believe the NSA should be infringing on the 4th Amendment rights of our citizens.
My Party supports cuts in military spending and more reliance upon our states for our National Guard needs.
My Party supports government work for those folks that cannot find work in the private sector. We believe that our environmental needs and our infrastructure needs are in need of repair. We believe we should put people to work, as well as assist them with food and shelter.
My Party is totally against big money in politics. The Citizen's United decision was an abomination. We need to get money out of politics and we need to assure every citizen the right to vote. It should be criminal for anyone to try and prevent our citizens from exercising the God-given right to vote.
My Party is for the preservation of our environment. We are against Big Oil pipelines criss-crossing our water resources. Therefore, we are against the Keystone XL Pipeline.
We are the Progressive Democratic Party. We are proud Democrats.

Curious that the people who support the party's leader the most fervently and unapologetically are not here showing their support of the party.

I only support Obamacare because it is better than anything the Republicans are offering. I would support repeal of the ACA also if we can get a single-payer.

(115,406 posts)If we don't take our Party back, we are going to lose it. The left has been the heart and conscience of the Democratic Party for a very long time. We are not automatons marching in lockstep to a corporate agenda.

(11,179 posts)I look at this fight as Ahab viewed the White Whale...the DLC and GOP are kindred spirits - as unthinking and unfeeling as Moby Dick himself! - serving an evil master that I would fight against forever:
Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hells heart I stab at thee; for hates sake I spit my last breath at thee.

(10,539 posts)I am awful tired of the reality of the corporate Democrats selling us out. When is the last time we mounted a serious challenge at real campaign finance reform? I look at that list and see several things we stand for that we have lost, or losing, and some not being addressed at all. I see a majority of Democrats want to keep the money flowing. I believe that because they haven't done anything substantive to address Citizens United for one thing. Why the hell not? I know Boner and the Rethugs would stop anything of the sort, but why do so few Democrats really tell it like it is? I love Bernie and Elizebeth and several others, but still a minority of the Democratic politicians are willing to lay it out. Sure we have some true Democrats, you know who they are, but too many are socially Liberal and fiscally conservative (answers to Wall Street)!
What we really need, all we really need to be focused on getting rid of the corporate cash, Lobbyists, and all other types of "Influence Peddlers!" We need complete campaign finance reform and publicly funded elections. To do that it has to start at the grass roots level like OWS, but only focus on getting as much money out of politics as possible. If we could do this, I bet we would significantly raise our batting average on how we are doing on the things we stand for, I'm just sayin.

(56,582 posts)Seriously, we act like we know what that means, but as a phrase it doesn't really make sense. You can send a shirt overseas, or a barrel of oil. A job is not a thing.
What do you mean by "send jobs overseas"?

(56,582 posts)The US manufactures more today than it has at any point in history. It also grows more food than at any point in history. And every year it takes less and less jobs to do that. Growth of developing world economies isn't the reason. And the solution isn't "more manufacturing jobs", it's "better paying service industry jobs".

(50,983 posts)A good job in manufacturing has been the foundation for a strong middle class since there has been a middle class.
And since the manufacturing jobs have been moving overseas the quality of life has declined for millions of us.
Why you would be on DU defending outsourcing is beyond my understanding.
