The debate rages on. Is global warming / climate change real?
Sure looks like global warming is real here...

(16,230 posts)There is no debate in scientific circles. Any debate is almost entirely from the ignorant, the uninformed, the political opportunists, or the criminally irresponsible people in the fossil fuel industries trying to protect their bottom line come hell or high water (which I just realized is a surprisingly appropriate idiom in this context).

(14,881 posts)And yes, the images of the melting antarctic from your link definitely show the impacts...

James Balog photographs the melting ice of the Antarctic. In this report from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) the photographer is calling attention to climate change (Global Warming) by documenting the shrinking glaciers in Antarctica.
Welcome to DU!
(p.s. most people here prefer to just copy and paste urls, versus the blue word links, so that viewers can see the source before following the link. )

(2,679 posts)Only baggers are about 2 millennium behind the rest of the world. So they are just starting to get it. Global warming is happening and we caused it. Al Gore was right and they refuse to admit they were wrong.
The stupid and crazy runs deep in that bunch.

(9,796 posts)The scientific community came to a consensus on the subject years ago. Only corporates and committed contrarians refuse to accept it and, Canute-like, they'll reject it even as the waves wash over their heads. I just hope they don't drown the rest of us in the process.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
