It's getting pretty depressing around this joint.
Or as I like to say, Thursday at DU.
Anyway for whatever it's worth.
Have a great day everyone.

The car I was going to buy is gone. Now, I have to start the car search all over again. This is not good news, at all.
I guess some good news would be that spring is trying to get to my son's house in MO. My DIL is sitting at the window waiting 'patiently'.

(18,402 posts)That's about the "best" news I read today, even though I don't eat pecans very often, except at Thanksgiving. I guess it's good news for New Mexico pecan farmers:
While the lack of rainfall has left many ranchers and farmers reeling and has earned the Rio Grande the nickname Rio Sand pecan growers here have been able to thrive.
Thanks in part to the foresight of farmers who installed sophisticated irrigation systems and in part to the arid climate that helps ward off crop disease, the pecan business has been booming in the farmland around Las Cruces. The prosperous harvest this season has been all the more precious because pecan crops in other states like Georgia were ravaged by heavy rain and fungus, leading to high prices and shortages just before the Thanksgiving demand for pecan pie.

(86,600 posts)even though it's snowing hard enough to lay 6" on the ground... we call it snowshine, always happens in early spring... besides, it's been above 0 degrees F for a week now. And that means it's springtime!
Cheer up, don't let others' baggage and bad moods weigh you down, think of something that makes you smile and go in that direction, you'll feel better.

(32,083 posts)We had a bad ice storm about a month ago. Lots and lots of downed trees and branches. It's taking forever for the city's yard debris recycling trucks to take it all away, Because there's just so much of it. But, at lest one of the streets in my neighborhood has been cleared away this morning. Hopefully, they'll get to my pile today or tomorrow.

(55,745 posts)...are children still.
"Every second we live is a new and unique moment for the universe, a moment that never was before and will never be again.
And what do we teach children in school? We teach them that two and two make four and that Paris is the capital of France.
When will we also teach them: Do you know what you are?
You are a Marvel. You are Unique. In all the world there is no other child exactly like you.
In the millions of years that have passed there has never been another child like you.
And look at your body what a wonder it is! Your legs, your arms, your cunning fingers, the way you move!
You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything.
Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel?
You must cherish one another. You must work. We all must work to make this world worthy of children.

(30,247 posts)First of all, I have some minor things, but overall I'm in good health. Second, I have family and friends. Life would be lonely without them. Third, although there's been a lot of lay-offs, I still have a job for now. Fourth, I have a roof over my head and my basic needs are met.
What more can one ask for?
