Interesting, though decidedly unscientific reporting.

Note to happy alerters, I am NOT stating that this is a UFO or anything else.
I think it is somewhat curious, that's all.
Possibly the best explanation may be that it is a drone, or drones of some kind.

(53,339 posts)But why NOT say it's a UFO? That just means it's unidentified.

(40,569 posts)as just happened to a new member of DU. This is, in part, a lesson on how to post something like this.

(33,054 posts)unless there is another OP on the same subject.

I corrected that. Thank you.

(4,965 posts)Here is a snip from the top of that thread:

Also, Skinner PPRed the poster because he was determined to be a troll.
I thought it was unusual for a new member to start a thread about the controversial topic of UFOs. Starting a debate about such subjects in GD takes us away from our primary goal of getting our candidates elected.
Having said that, I will add that I appreciate hearing about an off-the-wall news story when it makes it to a major network as did this story which was reported by ABC News.
There didn't seem (to me) to be anything hateful, disruptive, or rude about the other OP (the one that got locked). Could someone let me know what the landmine is so I don't inadvertently step on it?
btw, I don't believe that UFOs are aliens buzzing the Earth. When people ask me if I believe in UFOs, I say something like "I believe that there are things that fly that the viewer cannot identify. But the doesn't mean that they are alien ships." And I say it in a way that shows I'm a friendly skeptic. I am NOT likely to start a thread about UFOs.
My guess is that it is a remote control helicopter that somebody nearby is using to check out the woods after dark.

(5,420 posts)haven't finished X Files but have now gone through all of the Star Treks, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Warehouse 13, Eureka, Walking Dead, American Horror Story and on the 4th season of Fringe now. I don't know what to watch next. Got any suggestions? Am running out of sci fi series. We don't get cable so anything on there but not listed here might fit.

(115,186 posts)It is an unidentified flying object. That doesn't mean it's from outer space.
On edit I see this point was made above. It's sad that a jury would hide a thread just for saying that a flying object is unidentified.

(9,186 posts)How about flashlights tied to trees?
Mirrors in trees and flashlights activated behind the cameras?
Nope! gotta be good ol' ET

(9,186 posts)Our hospital hired a professional videographer to do aerial shots of the facility. he used the quietest, coolest four-prop drone with a Hero camera attached. The drone had a range of 1000 feet......
It would be completely impossible for someone to have lights attached to one of these things, right?

(4,524 posts)Maybe an ATV went past in the distance? The eye thing happens because IR cameras cause animals' eyes to light up (including humans'). You also can't rule out a camera malfunction.
