Rush Limbaugh Freaks Out About Stephen Colbert Getting 'Late Show'

Lots of people have congratulated Stephen Colbert on taking over as host of CBS' "Late Show," but Rush Limbaugh isn't one of them. In fact, to hear the radio host tell it, Colbert's new job is nothing less than a grave political, constitutional, and moral crisis in American television.

"CBS has just declared war on the heartland of America," Limbaugh fumed. "No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatism. Now it's just wide out in the open. What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny, and a redefinition of what is comedy. They're blowing up the 11:30 format... they hired a partisan, so-called comedian, to run a comedy show."

Of course, Colbert will be retiring his faux-conservative character when he takes over from David Letterman.

(Marching music starts)

They say that I'm sleaze
An elitist, if you please
Everybody disagrees with my rap (with his rap)
I'm horrendous, I'm appalling
My ratings now are falling
'Cause I'm so full of bull, so full of crap (full of crap)

With condescending cries,
Making money selling lies,
You might say everybody hates my guts (hates his guts)
I'm offensive, I'm a bigot
I'm a fraud - Can you dig it?
I'm a sexist, racist, homophobic, fat, pathetic putz
I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
That's right, I really am,
'Cause I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
That's right, you're being scammed

I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
I don't care about the middle class
'Cause I'm a fat conservative butthead
With the face of a horse's ass
(He's a fat conservative butthead) Hey!
(With the face of a horse's ass)

I have a sub-human figure, a huge rear end
My brain? That's another story (it's quite another story)
I have a face the size of a wash tub
And my ass is as big as Missouri - Yes!
(This bastard is sick, he's a fat, pompous prick,
And his ass is as big as Missouri) Yessiree, Bob!

Manipulating statements, exaggerate the truth,
I can't believe the hate my show inspires (the hate his show inspires)
It's not just because I'm stupid (oh no)
It's not just because I'm dumb (uh huh)
It's just because Republicans are liars (those dirty, filthy liars)

I am heartless, I am vain, insensitive, insane
They say that I'm a national disgrace (disgrace)
I am nasty (yes!), insulting (no!), basically revolting (uh huh)
I'm a concentrated pile of human waste (he's human waste)

I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
(Sieg heil!) I really am
'Cause I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
That's right, you're being scammed
I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
I don't care about the middle class
'Cause I'm a sick Republican sleaze ball
With the face of a horse's ass
(He's a sick Republican sleaze ball) Ho!
(With the face of a horse's ass)

They say that this is not about my vanity
They doubt my sanity
They think I'm nuts (so nuts)
I am a cyst on the ass of humanity (eww!)
New Republican slogan:
"Read My Putz" (read his putz)

From the bowels of Adolf Hitler
Comes the voice of Rush Limbaugh, heh heh

In closing, let me say: that each and every day
I'm an evil, rotten, egotistical snob (evil, rotten)
I'm the cop of the cop of Joe McCarthy-like gestapo
The right wing, foam-at-the-mouth, jackbooted slob

The Democratic-trashing years of liberal bashing
With the equivalent compassion of a grommet (of a grommet)
With the I.Q. of a fig; I'm a fat, obnoxious pig
And the truth of the matter is... I'm vomit (he's vomit)

'Cause I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
(Sieg heil!) I really am
'Cause I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
(Sieg heil!) You're being scammed
I'm a nazi (he's a nazi)
I don't care about the middle class
'Cause I'm a fear mongering scum bag
With the face of a horse's ass
(He's a fat conservative butthead) Hey!
(Sick Republican sleaze ball) Ha ha!
(Fear mongering scum bag) Ho!
(Egotistical ass wipe) Yes!

of "Epic Fail", and clearly, he's never gotten over it!

I actually listened to his radio on occasion at that time ( I know, ), and he would bring up Letterman every so often in near-reverential tones! It was a total man-crush! It was obvious that Limpballs felt DL was "The Man" when it came to his ability to entertain an audience.

When Limpballs finally appeared on Letterman's show a few years later, Letterman promptly skewered his fat blowhard ass after he took a cheap shot at Hillary Clinton's appearance, and from that point on, he clearly declared Holy War on Letterman, and took to firing shots at him on his own radio show, where he would never have to face repercussions for them.

Lesson: conservatives cannot do humor, wit, satire, or comedy, ALL of which require seeing and understanding nuance, subtlety, and shades of gray, which is WELL beyond the ability of today's black-and-white, simple-minded conservatives.

I happened to hear him a week or two ago and he was clearly slurring his words and he was doing the same thing last time I heard him. Once you get addicted to such a powerful and addicting drug like oxycodone, you're pretty much going to have to fight the temptation the rest of your life and he sounded high the last two times I heard him.

I wonder how his audience will like him having to go to rehab after having his housekeeper get him 5000 pills.

Taking Colbert away from lampooning conservatives may not be the best thing to happen to the liberal cause. A lot of young people get their news and views from The Report.

I don't necessarily see why he'd have to abandon the persona. Wait and see.

On the move, though, I'm bummed. I almost never catch the initial broadcast of the Colbert Report - I usually catch the second or third rerun, at 1 or 2 am or the next morning at 9 or 10, whenever it's on. I'm guessing the late shows don't do such reruns.

Although I am happy for Colbert, I fear what losing the show may mean in the long run.

I hope he continues to be a strong voice for liberals hosting The Late Show as he has been on the Colbert Report, though.
It is just difficult to imagine The Late Show being a format to shine light on the injustices and absurd policies of the Teaboogers.

Needless to say, I take exception to the Windbag's idea of traditional American values.

I will add that my mother, who was born 100 years ago last week in Nebraska, would not appreciate having those values associated with "the heartland of America."

I mean, it's just the market talking. Hell, Rush always talks about being an entertainer and saying he'll finish when there are no more liberals. And even then, satire is a lot less incendiary than demagoguery. Colbert is a hammer wrapped in velvet that hits you and makes you think. Rush is just basic red meat slinging.

I remember that show. First, when Rush was giving him shit about
"changing positions" on the war in Iraq (i.e Dave being indecisive)
Dave shot back that he could change because, unlike pigboy, he
was a "thoughtful person". Loved it!

But the look on that bastards face when Dave finally asked,"have
you ever thought to yourself 'maybe I'm just a big bag of hot gas' ?"
that was priceless. I will never forget it: apoplectic.

Dave knows that guy is completely full of shit.

Fri Apr 11, 2014, 03:24 PM

"No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatism. Now it's just wide out in the open."

It was something the Right thought they had under control. Carlin died, Air America, with Al Franken shut down, and that Dubya hating Letterman about to retire. Now Comedy will be given a new stage.

Truth has always been known to have a liberal bias, but what we now understand, thanks to Rush, is that Comedy itself is about as pinko commie as it comes. Because in the far Right's utopia no one laughs or makes fun of anything (unless its them on silly libruls)

Tue Apr 15, 2014, 04:34 AM
Apr 2014

Limbaugh makes his living--and a very good one-- by freaking out over all things left of Il Duce, no matter what the issue is. And so he does that on a daily basis. The issue of the moment is irrelevant. If it's left or can be made to seem left, he will rant against it.

It would be news if Limbaugh supported anything leftist.
