(12,620 posts)Given the younger voter turn out in the last off year election, I am not holding my breath.
For a generation that like to blame all their problems on the generations before them, they have a bit of catching up to do.
The future of the world is in their hands and all they have to do is vote.

(6,234 posts)Nothing really changed. Obama, like Bush and virtually everyone in Washington, works for the same corporations. In hindsight it's pretty obvious, but young people can be forgiven their cynicism and indifference.

(15,435 posts)and one who has had many "hair on fire" days with this administration, maybe some of our Representatives & Senators might be fed up enough now and might be more willing to fight.
I've skirted away from using the word HOPE when talking or posting for a very long time, but I do wish my statement will come true. The only way to know for sure is to VOTE and get others to VOTE for more Democrats. Do I wish we had more choices, YES! However, we are pretty much stuck with what we have and the alternative choice is far too scary and disastrous!
Given where I live any attempts to get a candidate other than Repuke elected isn't possible so I'll have to work to get rid of Rick Scott as my top priority. Also, the Florida Democratic Party has been pretty lame IMO, so I suppose it's up to "we the people" here to push forward!
At this point in time I don't think Rick Scott is quacking in his boots as he may be sensing that Democrats don't really want to vote for Crist. So even though I think some Democrats in D.C may be opening their eyes, I do feel Florida could be an opportunity missed. Crist was a more moderate Repuke Governor, but I hearing grumblings from Democrats here who may not vote! It happened when he ran against Rubio so I remain worried.

(9,214 posts)Party doesn't matter, vote for the best possible candidate and you have a chance to get the best candidate possible.
Vote for bad and the best you can expect to get is bad.
Vote for a little better than bad and the best you can hope for is to get a little better than bad.
But if you vote for the best, then you have a chance to get the best.
Vermont understands it, I wish the rest of the Country did.

All I ask is, where are the lawyers who love the law and the American people. Where will be the election observers in battleground states -- where are they now, when laws are passed disallowing going to the bathroom while voters are made to wait hours and hours to vote.
Why is the legal system allowing the voting system to be shut down. If that continues, his statement might be the naive, ironic one of this upcoming campaign.

(5,178 posts)However if those people are donating money to mutual funds before they stand with progressives they are already doing all they can to drown out our message.
There are those that GOTV and those that fund corporate attacks against GOTV. Some do both, but with a lot of door to door campaigning, they can possibly make it a break even situation for us.

(5,276 posts)Sooner or later, as inequality gets worse and worse, the people will rise up. Sooner or later eating cat food and shivering because you can't afford heat, etc., will trump caring about who marries who and that stuff.
Maybe it won't have to go that far, a lot of old white men die every year and that will keep changing our nation's makeup.
