For me it's how the patriarchy costs this country intellectual capital by discouraging women from pursuing traditionally male career choices if that's what they want to do.
Then on top of it, the patriarchy pays them less for it.
So what's your biggest bug about the patriarchy (I know there's too much to choose from)?

(11,804 posts)That's not just patriarchy of course - it's also racially tinged, but white males basically get to assume that they are normal and that they are seeing the world as it really is, while everybody else has "an interesting perspective" but doesn't understand things as they really are. It's a sort of permanent blinders that society wears - white males particularly, but it's so persuasive that even non-white males will often buy into it.
