Very very very sad to hear this news.....I have been listening to her daily for over 10 years!
I am heartbroken...

I am secretly hoping that she just continues on with her IheartRadio channel.....

Is Hillary Clinton dealing with "personal demons" because she fell down and had a concussion? This is just ridiculous....

(37,428 posts)...then on satellite. I think she'd keep her show if anyone would let her keep an audience.
She fought the good fight for many years. Luck to Randi!

(26,357 posts)Be it podcasts, or Youtube broadcasts, something else.
She can do it pretty much on her own, and won't have to answer to Clear Channel dickhead CEOs, or anyone else trying to censor her.

(20,050 posts)I wasn't listening and cannot attest to if he did say that or not, but it's what I was told a bit ago.
My advice is to wait and see if Randi addresses the statement today.

(20,050 posts)Or, it could be a miscommunication leading to some type of confusion.
Maybe ask her via twitter or email about it? I'm sure she'll address the statement once she knows it's out there.

This time its her choice according to Premiere. You may remember back in November it was announced that Rhodes would no longer be syndicated by Premiere, but that was reversed and the relationship continued. Until now. Here's the statement from a Premiere spokesperson. I can confirm Randi Rhodes has decided to end her national radio program. Weve had a successful partnership with Randi for several years, and we wish her all the best for the future. Premiere Networks will conclude syndication and production of Randi Rhodes on May 16, 2014.

(20,050 posts)I wish her joy in her future endeavors.
I honestly think talk radio is is on it's last leg anyway. It's increasingly difficult to get sponsors for political programs since fewer businesses want to be seen as taking a side.

(6,568 posts)That's kind of vile, IMHO. I try not to listen to inflammatory radio hosts...
I was about to actually post the word, then I saw a topic that referred to that incident get hidden for using that word.

I'm hoping she will continue with a new platform. She was making noises last time that she planed to do so, and seems at the last minute premier backtracked. She seemed all to willing to grab on again and get her crew back. I'd guess keeping everyone employed was a large part of her decision to stay.

(33,284 posts)so no iHeartRadio channel. I wonder if Thom Hartmann will get more stations now that Randi will retire, like in San Francisco's KKSF 910 that carries Randi live. Both TH and RR are in the 3-6pm ET timeslot.

(7,720 posts)doesn't work that way. It is an app that streams live radio broadcasts from radio broadcasting stations. If she does not have a radio show, she won't be on IHeartRadio.

(16,380 posts)She explained why she was leaving.
I really had mixed feelings about what she said. I love the fact that she is prioritizing her family, (probably spending more time in Costa Rica and just tired of the long media slog in general.
OTOH I really was turned off by her not so subtle digs at Rachel Maddow and Sen. Franken. She mentioned several times "People that used AA for their own advancement" etc. etc. And by doing so helped bring about it's demise. It came across as bitter (to me).
Franken is a well loved Senator from Minnesota and Maddow has gone on to considerable success. I can't imagine that taking part in AA was some shadowy plan by those two.
I will miss Randi, her humor and her impeccably researched show immensely.
I won't miss the animosity that she seems to harbor towards many that have been successful in the biz.
