More Donald Sterling audio has been released ... this time, you can hear the Clippers' owner explaining that he doesn't think he's racist because he puts food on the tables of his his black employees.
The audio -- just released on Deadspin -- appears to pick up where the clip published on TMZ Sports leaves off ... with Sterling's girlfriend V. Stiviano challenging him on April 9th about why she can't post photos of black people on her Instagram page.
GF: "I don't understand, I don't see your views. I wasn't raised the way you were raised."
Sterling: "Well then, if you don't feel -- don't come to my games. Don't bring black people, and don't come."
GF: "Do you know that you have a whole team that's black, that plays for you?"
Sterling: "You just, do I know? I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them? Do I know that I haveWho makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league?"
Sterling also objects when Stiviano compares his attitude toward black people to the Holocaust.
During the conversation, Stiviano says she didn't remove a photo of L.A. Dodgers star Matt Kemp from her Instagram page because he's mixed race and light-skinned and she thought Sterling would be OK with it.

(9,933 posts)Sterling collects the money, takes a share and pays the players. He has nothing without the players. Did they play today?

(101,316 posts)The completely obvious answer is that they make the game. No-one says "I'm going to watch Sterling's team".
In the not-too-dissimilar NFL set-up, the Green Bay Packers manage fine without an owner at all.

(23,664 posts)They make a ton of money for that wrinkled old shart. In comparison with their peers, I doubt if they're even that well paid for what they do.

Then I see he's OK with her screwing black guys, like the guys on his team whom he "feeds".
Then there's the thing about him suing her for stealing almost 2 million from him, and the words "gold digger" being thrown around a lot.
Really old white guys who are still racists aren't news, unless they're stupid enough to brag about it. Really old rich guys who buy or rent hot young arm candy aren't big news either. And nobody should be surprised that the two are the same person more often than we would like.
But, man, it just can't get any better than this one.

(2,117 posts)They're separated but not divorced and it sounds like the wife wants the courts to take back the things/money that were given to Stiviano because they should be in the names of Sterling and his wife, not hers.

(102,276 posts)based on his bigotry, I'd bet a lot of the 1% have that attitude towards all of us "worker bees"... this country's move towards oligarchy has allowed racism and fear/resentment towards the "have-nots" to intersect in one major hate-fest.

One of those deserving good guys Republicans are always praising and helping to get richer.
So were the southern slave owners.

(36,437 posts)The Fetish of the Entrepreneur, on full display:
I make it! Me! Not the workers! ME! ME! ME!
Substitute "the game" for pretty much any human activity, and you have the horrendous entrepreneurial "spirit" - the idea that the people actually laboring are just automatons for the entrepreneurs "brilliant" ideas and "bold" risks. FUCK these people sideways. As soon as I hear somebody proclaim themselves an entrepreneur, I know I'm dealing with an asshole, pure and simple.
That this philosophy of the entrepreneur should connect so easily with racism is no surprise. Perhaps we're coming out of a period where this shithead philosophy has dominated everything.

He "gives" them food, clothes, cars and houses?
What. A. Moron.
People don't buy tickets to see you, Mr Sterling. You are nothing more than an intermediary, just like every other "job creator". Customers hire workers, and you are nothing but the parasite in between.

(10,745 posts)Please, Mrs. Stiviano, I would sincerely urge you to LEAVE this guy. He only respects you because he thinks of you as a fucktoy.....and not as an independent human being(who happens to be a Woman of Color, though I'm sure he tries his best to ignore that.). You are obviously a MUCH better person than your current BF.
