Politco tying Sterling to Democrats.

Donald Sterling was a modest donor to several Democratic politicians, long before racist remarks were attributed to the owner of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers.

Sterling donated a combined of $4,000 to Democratic Sens. Bill Bradley of New Jersey and Patrick Leahy of Vermont as well as then-State Controller Gray Davis of California in the late 1980s and early 1990s, according to a database on OpenSecrets.

In 1989 Sterling cut two separate checks of $1,000 to Bradley, a former basketball player for the New York Knicks who is now in the Hall of Fame. Bradley was reelected in 1990 and retired from the Senate in 1997.

Two years later Sterling backed Davis over Dianne Feinstein in a special election for a Senate seat, donating $1,000 to Davis. Davis lost to Feinstein in 1992 and eventually became governor of California before being recalled.

Because of a handful of donations ages ago? Good luck with that, Politico.

LOLGOP ?@LOLGOP 40m
The Republican urge to spin Sterling's 3 donations in the 80s into him being a Democrat suggests they assumed he was a Republican.

other than this black eye Politico is attempting to give us?

I'd bet he's not a Democrat anymore, if ever he was.

Not as though he ever donated big, anyway.

Rich people make relatively small donations to candidates for a lot of reasons. Maybe he thought Bradley would be a sports friendly legislator. Maybe they were buddies. Maybe hs cousin married Davis.

You can't count a few pocket change (for him) donations as evidence of his politics.

You should see all the donations McCain once got from very Democratic Hollywood stars after speaking to a group of them about his life story. Not huge donations, any of them, but many. What do you do when a troop who spent a chunk of his life getting his arms re-broken as prisoner asks you?

Which reminds me of how much I don't respect Politico or anyone who pretends Politico is an objective news outfit.

......it's how those of a particular Party react to a racist. We won't be circling the wagons around this guy like the Right did with Bundy. That's the difference.
