If I worked for FEMA or a food bank on the west coast, I'd check to see if any food supplies/stockpiles have suddenly disappeared.

(5,477 posts)If they are using them on any frequencies within the ham bands they need an FCC Amateur Radio License. If they don't have the license, they are breaking yet another law. (Most of the BaoFeng's will transmit and receive well outside of the ham bands, but I wouldn't expect these guys to bother to find out what is legal and what is not. I can't see from the photo exactly which model of radio they have.)
geckosfeet
(9,644 posts)available. In any case, to use any HAM frequency within fcc guidelines (legally) requires a license.

(9,644 posts)rigs have some pretty amazing functionality. Scanners etc. I have to believe that le has some secure communications channel for situations like this.

(32,017 posts)No doubt these patriots were "entitled" to the aforementioned government benefits. It's just the government benefits that go to everyone else that they oppose.
So noble of them.

(6,785 posts)I was thinking the feds should run them off, but now that I think about it, it might be a better idea to block their road off and not let them out. Anyone that wants to come out can surrender into federal custody. It would also solve the problem of them harassing residents of the area.

(53,661 posts)But they'd be real proud to do that to the taxpayers, or sheeple as we're called daily now. They consider us their prey Randians believe it's all about them, and the rest of us should FOAD, the sooner the better, more stuff for them.
Thes guys have an endless supply of everything, which does not come from the life they are leading there in the desert. We are now at the level of dysfunction of third world nations in some sectors., due to Grover's Starve the Beast followers.
They planned to make the nation die from within. Many are A-OK with that, mainly these types and those who stalk internet forums and tell us to give up on our country. . .
Thanks for this thread and keeping up on it.

(48,988 posts)The Tea thugs are setting up a separate Koch-stan there and it needs to be dealt with ASAP. Find out all the brands, read all the labels, note down all the SKUs and any delivery labels, suppliers, and wholesalers. Follow the money and track it all down and work it back to the sources. There's a tremendous amount of data they are spewing on the intartoobz and it might yield some unsurprising surprises. Unsurprising to us, surprising to the general public and even to the R & T dupes and suckers doing the grunt work out in that heat.

(12,503 posts)We're overdue for at least a gun cleaning shooting by now. And the guy in the photo above is wearing camos, so serious gun cleaning prepping for some serious shooting of U.S. Government agents should be happening.

(11,197 posts)desire to shoot something (particularly someone) becomes too much for them and they begin to seek out even the flimsiest excuse to justify their use of deadly force. Perhaps someone carrying a menacing bag of Skittles.

(86,535 posts)their using all these communication devices makes it easier to monitor them... public airwaves, they are also probably burning cell phone minutes like firewood and they are reeeeally close to a couple major military installations after all. I bet they have mostly all been ID'd with face/voice recognition software. they also have quite the broadcast network on shortwave (don't forget about that part). Shortwave is really popular out in these parts. If you have a shortwave receiver in the vast western states, you will hear some rather startling stuff if you venture into that realm. I wouldn't be surprised if the Murdoch/Kock network isn't giving out detailed instructions over that system... just a thought.
Aside from all that, their location is remote but also has few access routes which makes it easier to contain them in place. Logistically, they are in a pit that is not all that hard to surround, and so far I haven't seen that they have aircraft.
In the heat of the midsummer, this sh*thole should be pretty ripe.

These are the types "preppers" if you will that have vast stockpiles of these very items in their delusions of when 'TSHTF' (The Sh*t Hits The Fan).
I've read up on websites devoted to this very activity out of curiosity to know more about these types of individuals.
The amount of paranoia and preparations these morans are making is quite unsettling actually...

(53,339 posts)They even have armed lookouts in the hills for early warning. A couple of days ago they circulated a rumor that Attorney General Holder had approved a drone strike on the ranch to take place within 48 hours--so a bunch of the Oath Keepers fled to hotels in town, causing others at the ranch to label them deserters. One guy suggested they should be shot in the back for desertion on "the battlefield."
