The conversation about the rights of Texans to openly carry guns in public came to Fort Worth early Thursday evening, which caught the attention of some fast-food employees and police.
Members of the group Open Carry Texas planned to conduct a demonstration in the Home Depot parking lot off of Interstate 35W in south Fort Worth.
But first, the participants wanted to get a bite to eat at a nearby Jack in the Box restaurant.
That's when things got scary for some restaurant workers, according to Fort Worth police.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered a group of six males carrying rifles," Sgt. Raymond Bush said in an email. "The men reported that they were conducting an open-carry demonstration.
"Officers spoke with Jack in the Box employees who reported that they feared for their lives and believed they were being robbed. They locked themselves inside a freezer for protection out of fear the rifle-carrying men would rob them."
Members of the group could not be reached for comment Frida.

(77,795 posts)Even if they have the open carry, if they are staging a demonstration, what? And if even one bystander is brought to experience "alarm" it should be cause for charges against the aholes.

(7,234 posts)According to their interpretation of the 2nd amendment, it doesnt specify which "arms" should be beared.
Shouldn't all Americans including felons and the mentally ill have a right to own surface to air missiles, rocket launchers, C4 and Biological weapons?
Why just puny semi auto rifles?

Enough people do this, and stores will start banning these gunnut asshats.

Guns aren't toys, accessories, or status symbols. They are tools that need to be concealed as long as possible until absolutely necessary to be used to kill someone. I was trained and worked in government and when I see all of these ignorant, unprofessional bafoons, it scares the shit out of me. I avoid gun ranges because a yahoo shoots himself or someone else around here every few weeks.

Guns and Gun Control have been a touchy subject here on DU. And for that reason, the admins have created several forums in Justice and Public Safety for threads such as this. Please feel free to post it there.
