"Statewide, there are 27 confirmed mumps cases so far this spring — all young adults and about half of them college students. Three-fourths of the individuals were fully vaccinated against the mumps."

Which is why herd immunity is so important.

If the vaccine is 95% effective, that 5% needs herd immunity for protection. As vaccination rates drop, herd immunity goes away.
