The Republican Party..........incubates for racists, thugs & criminals..............
Republican witch hunter Darrell Issa is getting desperate, so desperate that he has subpoenaed the Department of Justice in an attempt to revive the IRS scandal. In a letter that accompanied the subpoena, Rep. Issa wrote,
http://oversight.house.gov/release/doj-dodges-questions-issa-subpoenas-justice-department-irs-investigation-targeting-documents-2/
Issa is now claiming that the DOJ is part of some massive cover-up of the IRS scandal. Rep. Issa has long claimed that President Obama and the White House were behind the targeting of conservative groups. By subpoenaing the DOJ, Issa is trying to advance his conspiracy theory. The evidence uncovered by Issas own previous investigation revealed that that the White House was not involved in what happened at the IRS, and the details of what occurred at the IRS are something that House Republicans really dont want to talk about.
The IRS targeted both liberal and conservative groups, because the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling led to a flood of groups trying to claim tax exempt status. What the IRS scandal has always been about is Republicans trying to intimidate the IRS into letting their shady super PACs violate the law by not paying taxes.

They'll do this with every "scandal" they are trying to create.
I think it will backfire because people get tired of hearing about something over and over again without any real new info and they tune out.

(14,923 posts)Summary
The House of Representativesin the same manner as the United States Senateis expressly
authorized within the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 5, clause 2) to discipline or
punish its own Members. This authority of the House to discipline a Member for disorderly
Behaviour is in addition to any criminal or civil liability that a Member of the House may incur
for particular misconduct, and is used not merely to punish an individual Member, but to protect
the institutional integrity of the House of Representatives, its proceedings, and its reputation.
The House may discipline its Members without the necessity of Senate concurrence. The most
common forms of discipline in the House are now expulsion, censure, or reprimand;
although the House may also discipline its Members in other ways, including fine or monetary
restitution, loss of seniority, and suspension or loss of certain privileges. In addition to such
sanctions imposed by the full House of Representatives, the standing committee in the House
which deals with ethics and official conduct matters, the House Committee on Ethicsformerly
called the Committee on Standards of Official Conductis authorized by House Rules to issue a
formal Letter of Reproval for misconduct which does not rise to the level of consideration or
sanction by the entire House of Representatives. Additionally, the Committee on Ethics has also
expressed its disapproval of certain conduct in informal letters and communications to Members.
The House may generally discipline its Members for violations of statutory law, including crimes;
for violations of internal congressional rules; or for any conduct which the House of
Representatives finds has reflected discredit upon the institution. Thus, each house of Congress
has disciplined its own Members for conduct which has not necessarily violated any specific rule
or law, but which was found to breach its privileges, demonstrate contempt for the institution, or
reflect discredit on the House or Senate. When the most severe sanction of expulsion has been
employed in the House of Representatives, however, the underlying conduct deemed by the
House to have merited removal from office has historically involved either disloyalty to the
United States Government, or the violation of a criminal law involving the abuse of ones official
position, such as bribery. The House of Representatives has actually expelled only five Members
in its history, but a number of Members, facing likely congressional discipline for various forms
of misconduct, have resigned from Congress prior to any formal House action or leave office
after election defeat.

(1,368 posts)I think this all applies to Issa. He's a joke and an
embarrassment. How does a jackass like this get
into office and get re-elected ? A waste of time, a
waste of money, and a political circus all for his own
perverse entertainment shoved down our throats --
and by a man who is totally lacking in integrity.
It's nice to know a mechanism exists, if it were
only employed as it should be.
Does Tom Delay, and all of his duplicity, represent
the threshold of what Congress will tolerate ?
I think he and Ted Cruz would make a lovely couple.

(1,254 posts)consider/treat APPLICANTS as tax exempt orgs and AUTOMATICALLY grant them tax exempt status while their applications are reviewed by the IRS. IF the application is still UNDER REVIEW by the IRS when the Org. has to file its first tax return (April 15th?), the Org. is granted tax exemption, HOWEVER, they are NOT granted the PRIVACY afforded to 501(c) 4 on their donation records. These groups have to make their donation records PUBLIC. And THAT is really what is behind this phony issue. These groups and the GOP would HAVE YOU BELIEVE these poor groups were DENIED tax exemption but they were not and NEVER were. THEY WERE DENIED PRIVACY, that's all.

(7 posts)Darryl Issa has a deep mental problem and needs to be put in an asylum. He has spent uncountable American taxpayer dollars on his personal malice toward Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and all members of the Democratic Party. It is unconscionable how much money he has wasted on his inquiries. When the Republican Conservatives are cutting lunch money for poor school kids, he has wasted $14 million on his narcissistic obsessive insistence on a rehashing pursuit of an already vetted issue seven times. How can the American people put up with this kind of political hysteria?
