OH SHIT...Elizabeth Warren just praised Obamacare

See here----->>>http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024981118

What the hell is wrong with her? Doesn't she know that it's nothing more than a scheme Barack Hussein Obama created to enrich wealthy insurance companies at the expense of poor people?

Maybe she needs to read DU more often. I'm going to shoot her an email encouraging her to setup an account here so she can be educated by the denizens of DU.

Looks like even liberal senators like Elizabeth Warren need to be educated by the liberal purity brigade.

Class is now in session....

too. If either one or both run, I will support them, but I will neither support nor vote ever again for a president who will appoint the likes of Timothy Geithner or Larry Summer or anyone with their world views to lead or support their financial team. That was utterly shameful.

At a time when we as a people should have been called to work together to deal with the severe financial misdeeds of the bankers, mortgage brokers and certain insurance companies, the government aided the banks, mortgage companies and insurance companies -- the financial sector -- and left ordinary Americans on Main Street behind.

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders were two of very few in the leadership of America who spoke out to protest the wrongs that were being done, the mistakes that were being made.

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have, in my opinion, two different approaches to economics and government, but both would put ordinary Americans' interests before those of the 1%. That would be quite a change, a change we need.

Full Definition of EMPATHY

1
: the imaginative projection of a subjective state into an object so that the object appears to be infused with it
2
: the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner; also : the capacity for this

Yeah, Obama didnt create it at all, but once it was clear he could not get a bill through without including profits for health insurance criminals, he adopted the rightwing Heritage Foundation individual mandate plan.

ACA would be loved by all who now hate it if it had been introduced by a rigthwinger...which it would have been eventually

I for one want to make sure I dont miss an opportunity to slam Obama for not resolving 200 + years of white man created problems in 6 yrs, what is wrong with him?

id imagine almost all people could and did recognize that the status quo was unsustainable...
20% of GDP by 2021... that's all the numbers ya need to know that...

that was something most people agreed with even back in the 90s when they had this argument over health care...

how anyone could say its not an improvement , I wouldn't know...

but I wouldn't imagine anyone saying it was the 'best' option except those who championed it in the 90s... lol
tho they did cripple the law by stripping the mandate for expanded Medicaid...

Just like voting for the Lesser of the Evils in a National Election.
The ACA has some good components,
and more people WILL have health Insurance,
but the cost is abominable.
Enshrining and codifying the the predatory, for profit, Health Insurance Industry as the gateway to Health care in America is an anathema to any FDR/LBJ Democrat.
We are going to be stuck with these blood suckers skimming their 15% off of our Tax Dollars for a LONG time.

Unfortunately, Obama seems to have a bit of trouble doing the math for himself, and the folks he hired to do it for him all seem to have ties to the banks. Elizabeth Warren studied bankruptcy and personal finance for many years. She understands what is going on in American families and how the banks and financial sector are exploiting it.

Again, read her book, A Fighting Chance. That's what she wants to give ordinary Americans -- a fighting chance. The ACA is part of giving Americans a fighting chance.

Oh, yes, Obama, a black man, has a bit of trouble doing the math. Takes a white woman to do it.

Face it, Warren is a politican, and if it weren't for Obama pushing her she would still be a nobody. He was the one who urged her to accept the appointment which allowed her to run for senate.

race or gender. Larry Summers is the one who didn't think women could do math. He should meet some of the women in my family. They do the math.

Math is not a race or gender talent.

I have a daughter who is extremely good at math. It's the basis for her career.

Based on my experience with her, I think that math ability is correlated to stubbornness. Sticking to solving a problem until the end is the key to success in math.

I can be good at math, but I can be awful at it.

Neil deGrasse Tyson disproves any illusions about the ability of black men and math. We need to teach all our kids to be stubborn enough to stick to math problems until they "get it."

Start counting with children when they are very, very young. I started with mine before they were a year old. They need to hear the numbers even more often than they hear their names. And don't be too rough on them when they are stubborn. It's our stubborn streaks that help us learn. We repeat things over and over and insist on repeating them, and that is how we learn. Read the same book over and over to a child. That's how the child learns.

I don't mean to preach to you. I'm sure you already know this. But maybe someone who needs to know it will read it.

Thanks. Sorry if you thought I was suggesting that Obama's math problems were based on race. Please don't forget that Obama's failings cannot be blamed on African-Americans. His white mother was about my age. I look at him as if he could be my son. Maybe that is why I am tough on him at time. His mother would be tough on him about some things, I suspect.

It just struck me that a sitting president can't do the math and it takes someone else who didn't even have political ambitions to do it for him.

Obama knows what he's doing and it fits his rhetoric. It is intentional, not ignorant. Obama has no intention of going after the bankers of going after wall street.

Remember she ran for office against Scott Brown?

maybe you don't know anything about Sen. Warren's positions

June 28, 2012:

http://elizabethwarren.com/blog/scott-brown-obamacare-is-bad-law

The Affordable Care Act isn't about politics. It's about making sure people with cancer or heart disease can get health insurance. It's about stopping discrimination against women and people with pre-existing conditions. It's about ending lifetime insurance caps, and closing the donut hole for seniors' prescription drugs.

Every American deserves access to quality, affordable health care.

So tell us, Senator Brown:

Why do you want to repeal a law that closes the donut hole so seniors can afford prescription drugs?
Why do you want to repeal a law that lets young people stay on their parents' insurance until age 26?
Why do you want to repeal a law that gives tax breaks to small businesses who provide health care to their employees?
And why do you want to repeal a law that prevents insurance companies from discriminating against women?
Massachusetts led the way in health reform, and we will continue to lead to reduce health care costs and ensure a level playing field for middle class families -- whether Scott Brown likes it or not.

Singling out Warren does not change this.

Also, in regard to Warren saying something nice about the ACA or whatever - Warren supporters are embracing the advice that is condescendingly tossed at us when we criticize anything Obama does or express dissatisfaction with a Clinton coronation -

we are not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Don't think actual ENTHUSIASM will increase one little bit - just a resigned lesser evil thing will be more likely.

Understand those with untreated illnesses, empty bellies and/or struggling to keep a roof over their head really don't give a sh!t about NSA spying, secret corporate giveaway trade agreements, Wall Street cronyism, internet freedom, transparency, etc, etc.....

And I, as one with healthcare and food in my pantry and a stable roof, care far less about any of that, so long as there a people that don't have healthcare and food in their pantry and a stable roof.

But then, I'm not a proper progressive.

45. A major reason
Wed May 21, 2014, 05:28 PM
May 2014

I worked for the Obama campaign in '08 was because he beat the drum hard for single payer universal health care. Then the single payer part was never even seriously proffered as part of the ACA, and only universal health care remained. He kept that much of his word. The problem was that he meant private universal health care for everyone, and I was thinking public universal health care. Barack never made the distinction, and I lacked the sophistication to catch the deception, because I wanted to believe.

Did he campaign on Single Payer? Was he trying to rebuild the entire healthcare system from scratch? Promoting something 5 years before is far from 'beating the drums hard' for Single Payer. Try again.

so 5 years before, a different epoch. Who could reasonable expect a politician to hold the same position on policy after such a vast expanse of time, especially a DLC democrat? Even so, I stand corrected as a matter of fact. I should have researched his speeches better before I campaigned for him. That, however, doesn't change my belief that he's just another corporatist who was elected by masquerading as a progressive. You'll see the same pitch when Hillary runs, and you'll probably pull your adoration beads out of from where the sun never shines and worship again.

In any event, sounds like you heard what you wanted to hear. The fact that you think he ran as some fire-breathing liberal is in your head, along with a lot of other nonsense.

It was debated here, endlessly, that Obama & Hillary were almost identical on policy matters, with the glaring exception of the Iraq war. So, since you don't seem to know the difference between 2003 & 2008, I'm not at all surprised that you might have missed that. You, not so smoothly, tried to leave the impression that he ran on single payer, and now you're "disappointed". Nice try.

Sounds like your beads, as well as your head were occupying the same dark space you now accuse me of. Knowing the obvious trouble you have with numbers, it's not so far fetched to extrapolate that you probably have the same confusion with facts. Either that, or you just make shit up as you go along. Revising history is so cool.

Wed May 21, 2014, 08:17 PM
May 2014

I assume "ou mine" was originally typed as "You mean," before your hyperactive autocorrect function got hold of it.

I saw a post on another thread in which "such a case of abuse" was turned into "sushi case of abuse"!

I have only recently realized how many weirdly worded emails I have sent out, knowing I typed the words I intended to say, but not realizing that autocorrect went all predictive on me and transformed my words into something quite other than I intended. For example, In the subject heading of one recent email, my reference to my daughters "most recent award" was turned into "most recent wayward."

In this very post, I had two words mangled--one twice--by autocorrect. The clause "autocorrect went all predictive on me" was turned into "autocorrect went all predictive on my," and the phrase "most recent award" was twice turned into "most rent award." I corrected the first one, and autocorrect changed it to "rent" a second time! I finally typed it into a "Word" document and copy-pasted the correct word.

I now double-check everything I type online--but I still miss some sneaky "corrections"!

She didn't really talk, of course. All she did was play back one of a small set of prerecorded phases, so her "response" had nothing to do with what I'd said.

Whenever I see some variation of "you've never said anything positive about the President", "bashing", "haters", "purity", "expect perfection", etc., I think of Chatty Cathy dolls.

May 2014

I have said, repeatedly, that the Democratic Party has no choice but to circle the wagons and defend the ACA. It may not be ideal, but it's better than what we had before, and I think we should both own it and defend it. Toward this end, I repeatedly invoked Harry Truman:

No apologizing for the ACA!

I've seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn't believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign.
