TACOMA, Wash. -- Authorities investigating the 2009 disappearance of a Utah woman found her blood in the family home and a hand-written note in which she expressed fear about her husband and her potential demise, according to documents unsealed Friday.

The files raise further questions about why Susan Powell's husband was never charged in her disappearance before he killed himself and their two young sons in a gas-fueled inferno in Washington state earlier this year. Investigators in West Valley City, Utah, never arrested Josh Powell or even publicly labeled him as a suspect in Susan Powell's disappearance.

You do not have to have a body to win a conviction. It is a harder case to prove, but IMHO he should have been brought to trial.

I want to know a very good reason why no action was taken. If they had, those two little boys would be alive now.

There is a lot of previously unrevealed info here. I think it is a valid question to ask why he wasn't prosecuted. I don't think it deserves flippancy by asking for NG.

3. That's what I wondered immediately following powell's murdering his boys and hlearning

everything that the authorities knew, that the boys were telling their teachers about "mommy being hurt , being in the trunk of the car" on the night of that infamous subzero camping trip and that they went on to say that mommy had disappeared that night and at present she was "looking for crystals in the mines". Noone in the position to do something about it thought it was too dangerous for those boys to visit that nut at a home where the grandfather had been arrested because of kiddie porn?

So many people at so many levels dropped so many balls!
