WH negotiated with House GOP to WEAKEN surveillance bill. Dems protest.

Democratic House members negotiated the new legislation to restrain massive surveillance.

Then House GOP met with the WH and negotiated a weakened bill.

What the hell is going on?

The WH works to weaken the oversight legislation hammered out by the Democrats? To the satisfaction of House GOP?

What the holy hell is going on? That almost approaches a constitutional crisis.

Good business. The war business. It's why all the secret government business.

It's the most un-democratic business there is, but, hey! Somebody's gotta do it. Amiright?

details means something. Do you want a half-assed bill or something that actually addresses the issue at hand?

Lawmaker Opposition

In particular, language was added to the bill that would allow the government to collect records that identify “a person, entity, account, address or device,” which critics say is too broad.

The House Rules Committee won’t allow any amendments to the bill when it comes to the House floor today.

“I’m going to be against it,” Representative Jared Polis, a Colorado Democrat, said in an interview. “The danger is that it potentially offers a window dressing of a solution that’s not a real solution and it’s better to keep the issue on the table and fight for real privacy rights.”

Representative Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat, said changes made “are seriously a step backwards,” and that she hadn’t made up her mind how she will vote....“quite possibly opens up the door to bulk collections again, even though we’re saying we’re not going to do bulk collections,” Lofgren said in an interview.

Yes, that describes our corrupt, corporate-purchased government that is building surveillance machines and impoverishing millions.

We have had a Constitutional crisis for some time now.

Oh, and propaganda machines, too. The president handed a little girl a flower today, or something.
