I said I thought this seemed like it was a professional terrorist attack at the time, and my opinion was dismissed and ridiculed. Well, looks like I was right after all.
Evidence Suggested Tsarnaev Brothers Did Not Act Alone
Specific evidence has led federal officials to believe that Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev did not act alone in planning the Boston Marathon attacks, according to arguments submitted Wednesday by the US Attorneys office.
At least eight clues led investigators to this conclusion, including the sophisticated nature of the bombs that were built that would have been difficult for the Tsarnaevs to fabricate successfully without training or assistance from others. Also, no traces of crushed black powder from fireworks needed for the devices were found in any location linked to the Tsarnaevs, indicating they may not have built it themselves.
Behavior by the Tsarnaevs, including using temporary phones, and planning another large-scale attack in New York City, also indicated the brothers did not act alone, according to prosecutors.
These details suggest, others might have radicalized them, directed them, trained them, assisted them, and/or concealed them; and that these others might be planning or poised to carry out additional attacks, the report stated.

(1,975 posts)Im guessing it was the older brother who got his little brother. I think I read somewhere that the older brother had come back from overseas and Russia told us to watch this guy.
This was written by the little brother while he was in the boat. Its pretty powerful if you think about it. It reminds me of the Kamikaze's of WWII.
"I do not mourn because his soul is very much alive. God has a plan for each person. Mine was to hide in this boat and shed some light on our actions, Tsarnaev wrote in the note, according to WHDH.
In his note, Tsarnaev added that "...we Muslims are one body, you hurt one you hurt us all... know you are fighting men who look into the barrel of your gun and see heaven, now how can you compete with that."

(82,849 posts)So the question of who radicalized the Tsarnaevs (presuming their guilt) remains open, despite all the snooping and surveillance being done by our all-too-human and curiously error-prone national security personnel.
But Americans can rest easy that the Ladies Quilting, Canning, and Anti-War Club that meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at Ethel's house has been fully infiltrated and documented.

(1,975 posts)That the US was definitely warned by Russia to keep an eye on the older brother. With the all seeing all powerful eyes of the NSA, why didn't they pick up on this? They were definitely using cell phones, probably email, and other forms of communication.
I guess they didn't use any keywords?

So apparently all it takes is a spelling error throw off our entire multi-billion dollar spy network.

Lo and Behold, Rapiscan, and Michael Chertoff sells them!

(39,961 posts)Just like with 9/11 and ignore it, and it seems like a pattern, not just negligence. Calculated ignorance. Follow the money. Chertoff made a fortune off of selling Rapiscan machines to the TSA and airports after the Underwear Bomber, and we as a nation were warned about him 3 different times, and even by his father.
But hey, somebody made money from the fear, so it's all good!

(20,176 posts)Any more than Al-Shabaab did.
If you were being at-all serious, I would tell you that the most-likely candidate is rogue factions of Vilayat Dagestan (formerly known as Shariat Jamaat), though there are several Georgian and Chechen Islamicist organizations that are/were capable of it, not even getting into Al-Qaeda aligned groups.
The entire disputed region of the Caucasus Emirate is very gas-and-oil-rich. This is of substantially greater interest to the Russians than the US however...it's their energy companies that hold the contracts, their energy workers and allied regimes that the Chechens and Dagostanis want to drive out.
Based however on the respective positions of the combatants and their stated disinterest in US engagement (All Islamicist factions in the C.E oppose action against non-Russian civilians, and particularly American civilians because they don't want US forces or boots on the ground and they view us as an arms-length strategic neutral party due to our own icy relations with Moscow)...it seems most likely that whoever backed, funded and provided material support to the Tsarnaevs was a radicalized rogue faction acting outside the purview of their own leadership...or very very stupid--the best hope they have of victory is US outrage against the genocidal tactics of the Russians and subsequent international pressure. The way to not get it is to bomb American civilians at a sporting event half a world away.

(60,161 posts)One of the many unexplained (at least not officially) anomalies of the persons claimed to have carried out the Boston Marathon bombings is the presence of key CIA figure in the direct family of the accused brothers.
Ruslan Tsarnaev, the outspoken uncle of the brothers was married to Samantha A. Fuller until 2004.
Samanthas father is Graham Fuller, the senior CIA person who architected the Afghan Islamic fundamentalist Mujahideen war against the Soviets.
He is also implicated in creating a global jihad network, presumably acting on behalf of CIA interests.
Ruslan Tsarnaev, who changed his name to Ruslan Tsarni, lives in a posh Washington DC suburb of Bethesda Maryland.
He has worked in the past for companies tied to Dick Cheneys Halliburton as well as a consultant in Kazakhstan with the State Departments USAID which has been identified as a CIA front.
Take it all in: The two brothers, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, accused though never proven in a court of law to have been responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings, had an uncle, the same uncle who agreed to bury the remains of the one dead brother. This uncle was married to the daughter of Graham Fuller, one of the most important CIA architects of using Islamic Jihadists/terrorists against the USSR during the Cold War and after, throughout Central Asia, including Chechnya and Kazakhstan.
Coincidence?
