I wouldn't be surprised if the NRA activated sleeper trolls across the web to push this idea. I bet they're laughing their asses off right now. Today, everyone seems to have forgotten what Mr. Martinez said. Here's a reminder.

(22,165 posts)Hate groups such as MRA's (Stormfront and its ilk .... ) certainly have proven to exert undue influence over the deranged and have incited violent acts

(51,021 posts)WTF? If he had written an anti-Semitic screed, or a racist screed that said how much he wanted to kill those groups, would you be so eager to dismiss anti Semitism or racism?

(22,165 posts)I blame the MRA's for inciting/validating violence toward and the hatred of women.
The two converged at a point (one severely deranged individual) ... and sadly, we see what we got

(1,451 posts)Instead of pouncing on them, we're giving them cover? The next potential mass killer might be racist, antisemitic, or misogynist. The only question that matters is: will they be able to purchase firearms?

(18 posts)He has every right to feel the way he does. And I agree that there should be more interest in the people killed by Elliot than there is.
The fact is, the two most powerful lobby groups in our country, last I heard, are the NRA and the ADL.

(7,234 posts)Never heard of the "MRA" but we know for damn sure the NRA has made sure thousands of people die each year because of gun violence by making weapons so easily accessible.
As usual the NRA wants you to blame everyone (including a phantom organization) except them. Its called passing the buck.
The "MRA" zombies, their gullible followers and the NRA can all SHOVE IT.

(9,314 posts)where it really belongs - on the lawmakers who sit back wringing their hands and not doing a damn thing. He's right - there's been all of this talk about the shooter, and damn little about the victims. This man lost his only son, a young man of 20. That's outrageous.
We have all of these discussions and arguments after each shooting, but nothing changes. It's fucking pathetic.

What the heck is going on??? The shooter made it very clear what his motives were for this shooting. Why is this so difficult to understand?

(63,225 posts)The NRA is an accessory in every shooting, so much so that any discussion of gun violence automatically involves the NRA. This is appropriate and is confirmed by shootings in recent decades.
The MRA component, at least as a visible contributing factor, has seldom if ever been addressed by the media. As such, since this is an unusual element that seems to bear directly on the motive behind the shooting, it's certainly reasonable to shine a spotlight on this aspect of the case.
As has been noted elsewhere, the media points out when a shooter has a racist motivation. It's entirely fitting to highlight Rodger's MRA bigotry as well.
