GOP Senate Candidate Terri Lynn Land Overwhelmed By Reporters: 'I Can't Do This'

Terri Lynn Land, the Republican candidate running for Senate in Michigan, walked into a scrum of inquiring reporters at a forum on Wednesday and didn't like what she saw.

"I can’t do this. I talk with my hands," she said, with an expression the Detroit Free Press described as "slightly panicked and clearly uncomfortable."

The former Michigan secretary of state is running against Democratic Rep. Gary Peters, who also spoke at the forum on Mackinac Island, to replace retiring Sen. Carl Levin (D).

Peppered with questions about whether she would have supported a federal bailout of General Motors and Chrysler, manufacturing giants based in her state, Land dodged.

"I support the autoworkers. I’m glad the autos are doing well," she said repeatedly.

President Barack Obama recently called Land out for defending "the gender gap in pay as a result of women’s choices."

She is clearly not ready for prime time.. I'm not as worried about this seat and the Iowas seat as i was a few months back.. AK and AR are looking OK too... we need to be diligent in LA and NC.. I think Landrieu knows how to fight and pull out a squeaker.. I am most worried about NC... WV and SD i think are gone.. and Walsh may be able to hold on in MT... Nunn looks to be doing really well.. KY is a toughie but Grimes has kept it surprisingly close... I dont think the media narrative of Repukes just outright winning has held up.. they might have alot of egg on their faces come Nov.... LOL... The Beltway is never in touch with what is really going on.. You don't hear so much as a peep about Obamacare (hint : its working.. !)

She has hidden from reporters since police reports were found filed by her ex husband and then her boyfriend, accusing her of stalking and various other things.

She's a disaster whose only "credential" is that she's an M.D.

Land was absolutely dreadful. She came across like a high school student who had memorized a speech. You had the terrible sensation that if interrupted, she would have had to start all over from the beginning. She spoke in slogans, seemed incapable of providing specific answers, and seemed not to understand the current hot-button issue of “Internet neutrality,” which threatens to allow rich conglomerates to dominate cyberspace.

Worse, when surrounded by reporters and bombarded with questions afterwards, she clearly panicked. She was a frightened Sarah Palin in sensible shoes, and everybody knew it.

Afterwards, one journalist said, “Can you imagine if there is a debate and someone asks her where North Korea is?”

As someone with a panic disorder, I can kind of empathize with being freaked out by being surrounded. Buuuut since she was an awful person before being freaked out and went back to being an awful person after being freaked out, I can't really work up a whole lot for her.
