And made our lives better with jobs and safe roads and bridges and healthcare and free education, maybe we would not resent their benefits so much. But as things stand now, they are the freeloaders they complain about so much.

Comparing a salary paid for services rendered to an unconditional social safety net is just silly.

Members of Congress have good health insurance by any standard, but it’s not free and not reserved only for them – and it’s not government insurance. House and Senate members are allowed to purchase private health insurance offered through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, which covers more than 8 million other federal employees, retirees and their families.

Don't know about the rest of the claims, but I knew the free healthcare was not correct.

of lucky duckies who often make much more schmoozing their former criminal colleagues after they retire than they ever did just taking bribes and a fat salary.

. . . except blame the unemployed for the fact they can't find work in a market that only offers one job for every three unemployed Americans.

8. That's it - blame the whole Congress, including the Democrats (and the Fed Govt, just incidentally).

After all, they're just civil servants. And we really don't need any of them do we? Just shut the whole thing down & everyone will be better off.

Isn't that what the Republicans do?

Everyone would be better off - except for the guy on the left, and the poor, and veterans, and small businesses, and family farmers, and students, and the middle class, etc. etc. etc.

If you want a true picture, put the Waltons and the Koch Bros on the right.

Its the private afterparty of the congressional term that's the travesty.

10. Throw in all the big businesses that lobby the congress (the nice way to say 'bribe')

and get sweet deals on government contracts and tax breaks, then you'll truly see who all the freeloaders are. Show me a person who complains about the poor getting welfare benefits (let alone Social Security bought and paid for with a lifetime of work) and I'll show you someone with their head up their ass.

they might have a right to complain about freeloaders. Last time I checked they were still the most ineffectual congress in our history. And yes, the actual stats back that up! They can vote themselves pay raises for spouting rhetoric in front of cameras while passing almost no worthwhile legislation (unless you count naming post offices).
