John (Flip-Flopper) McCain: Obama Released The ‘Jihadists Responsible For 9/11 To Get Sgt. Bergdahl

“My role as chief prosecutor was to review the information we had on the detainees to determine which ones we could potentially bring war crimes charges against,” Davis recalled. “When I saw the names of the five individuals, when they were reported last weekend, my first reaction was, ‘Who are they?’” “I never saw the names before, which means there was not enough information to even make it on our list of potential prosecution,” he explained. “To trade five of them for a U.S. service member, in my estimation, and I’m often critical of President [Barack] Obama, I think they struck a pretty good deal.”

Weasel (FOS) Alert:

Like clockwork, Johnny 'flip-flop' McCain makes his usual Sunday rounds pushing his tripe......

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday asserted that the five Taliban members traded for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was being held prison of war, were “hardcore military jihadists who are responsible for 9/11? and should have been detained indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay or some other U.S. prison. “First of all, I wouldn’t release these men,” McCain told CNN host Candy Crowley. “Ever?” Crowley wondered. “Not these men,” McCain insisted. “They were judged time after time during their confinement in Guantanamo, they were evaluated and judged as too great a risk to release. That was the judgement made.”

The Arizona Republican argued that Bergdahl knew when he joined the military that he was taking “certain risks, and among those risks are wounding, death, imprisonment. That’s why we cherish and love all of those men and women who serve so much.” Crowley pointed out McCain had supported a prisoner exchange with the Taliban to save Bergdahl earlier this year.

McCain, however, insisted that the president had chosen the wrong prisoners, but refused to say exactly which detainees he would have selected. “First of all, we’re not sending everybody home,” he chuckled. “We are going to send them — even if we close Guantanamo — we are going to send them to facilities inside the United States of America, that’s been the plan all along.” “Second of all, I believe we should keep these people because they are hardcore jihadists who are responsible for 9/11,” McCain continued. “Of course, nobody wants to release people who are responsible for 9/11, and these people that are released that were Taliban governing worked hand-in-glove with al Qaeda.”

McCain knew the identity of the prisoners back in 2011. Why didn't he RAISE HELL & RED FLAG back then??

In a March 9, 2012, report, the Afghanistan Analysts Network issued a long report on the Guantanamo Five, which actually found that the men were less hard-line than believed.

Then in August 2012, Reuters reported that the Obama administration had offered to trade “five senior Taliban leaders” — including Khairkhwa, Wasiq, Noori and Fazi — for Bergdahl. The headline on Business Insider’s Web site was: “The US Wants To Trade Five Taliban Leaders In Guantánamo For This One American POW.”

In April 2013, Post columnist David Ignatius reported that the same deal nearly came together in 2011: “They worked out a deal in which the United States would release five Taliban prisoners and send them to Qatar. The Taliban, in return, would condemn international terrorism and release U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, whom the militants had been holding since 2009.” But it fell through because of a conflict with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

In other words, these names were not a secret — and in any case, McCain sits on the relevant Senate committees (Armed Services and Foreign Relations), with security clearances, and thus could have found out about the names and the background of the individuals.

about Bergdahl in our government until 2013, except probably Obama himself and some of his staff, and some in the military. Bob Gates and Leon Panetta were the firewalls that would prevent any deal from happening--and they also weren't going to stage a direct rescue, either. They weren't going to lift a finger to help this kid once it was known he was in Pakistan, beyond keeping tabs on him with intelligence and special forces. McCain declared any such prisoner swap "dead" in late April, just six weeks ago. He and everyone else knew that a rescue would be near impossible and potentially deadly, and there was really no other way to get Bergdahl back alive than swap prisoners. But that's the point--they only paid lip service to getting this guy back, they didn't want it to actually HAPPEN.

Not the Taliban.

19 hijackers, Osama bin Laden-all of them are dead. Didn't McCain get the memo?

There must be something about Teapublicanism that rots you're brain and destroys any shred of empathy you may have had.
I wonder if they also loose any true sens of self respect.

And Al Queda were responsible for 9-11. What the fuck is McCrazy talking about and who in their right mind continues to air his tripe in public? Everyone knows he's a pathogical liar. He should have been tarred, feathered, and run out of the country for hoisting the cancer known as Palin on this country.
