Why I hate Texas

This morning I listened to former senator Kay B. Hutchison go on as to why Texas GOP policies should be a blueprint for the county. Well what does the GOP want to do in Texas?
1. stop all abortion
2treat immigrants with hate
3 Ban morning after pill
4 Privatize education
5 Make gays go to conversion therapy

This is just a start, they want Ted Cruz to be president. I think the easiest way to kill a snake is while it is in its shell We all know the following is also true in Texas

1 Rate near the bottom in education
2 Highest# n of people without insurance
3 Highest number of unwed mothers
4 Lowest tax rate for the 1%
5 Most income disparity

These are just a few points of what is wrong with Texas dont bring these crazy things to my state . We must STOP this Texas crazy b4 we are stuck with living in a place like Texas.Cruz is BUsh on steroids.

you are there, you are in the mire, you can hate it.

I on the other hand would have to justify hating texas because I don't live there. I think what makes me want to lie down about states like this is that they crow about their superiority while they slowly sink in the mud.

I feel like that sometimes about Alaska but not often. Just when Sarah Palin opens her yap.

Unfortunately Dems down there are bad campaigners and only slightly to the left of the republicans and run that way.

The only election worth paying attention to from a progressive perspective is Kinky Friedman for Ag Commissioner.

and he isn't a fundamentalist, antiabortion creationist gun nut, with the endorsement of Rick Perry, and Ted Nugent, like the one the dems nominated. Democrats down there have no values what so ever if they would nominate someone like that. Your seriously going to expect progressives in Tx to vote for a Teabag headcase just because he is a democrat, just because you decided Kinky isn't one of the tribe.

Now you're just talking out of a place that isn't your mouth. Chris Bell is the reason Tom Delay was found guilty of money laundering and conspiracy. Chris Bell supports LGBT rights, education funding, CHIP and opposes the Trans-Texas corridor.

As far as Jim Hogan is concerned you don't know a damned thing about his political positions because nobody knows. There is no proof he's some gun-nut, anti-abortion fundy like you claim. The man is an absolute mystery but he at least has working experience running a ranch, unlike King Friedman of the Hollow Buzzwords.

you wouldn't be talking to me. Personally, I hope Kinky runs as an indy again since the dems are going to insult him by preferring a closet republican. I would definately vote for him over a Rick Perry Democrat too. I am liberal first and foremost. If the party is going to run people indistinguishable from teabag republicans they can lose.

I am originally from Wisconsin (born in the 60s - I lived there when it was still blue) and now live in Texas. Frankly I don't see much difference with the obvious exception of the weather being opposite. I think you'd better do some research before you completely dismiss Texas. Start with the manufacturing town of San Antonio (ie - it's really a huge labor city - in the top 10 of this country in terms of population) ... and then read about the demographics.

Nobody is going to elect Ted Cruz to be president. That is the most insane thing I've read in awhile. And if you are in Chicago you have a lot to answer for with Rahm Emanuel as mayor. Frankly I can't think of a single way in which he is better than Cruz.

I live here now. I'm not especially thrilled about it, but I do see some glimmer of hope here. There is a very strong communist club here in Houston for example - much stronger than CPUSA. And we have labor to organize which is more than most states can say after their jobs have been shipped away by both repug and dem administrations. I'm a socialist rather than a dem so that may make my perspective a little different than your own. But I'd still like to see you actually back up your hyperbole with some stats/articles.

The tea party takeover of the Texas GOP is complete. The platform planks of reparative therapy and immigration will not help the GOP with moderate voters and there are some. Dan Patrick is a nut case and there are Hispanic republicans who are scared of him.

I really think that there will be backlash to this stupidity

You guys in Texas must have fallen asleep to have your state taken over by lunatics and bigots. The democratic party has little or no say in Texas politics.

I kinda like the place. Wonderful friends, supportive family, progressive congregation, diverse community, and I get to walk to work when the weather is agreeable. I'd guess pretty much any place would feel the same as you described if one is lacking what I have.

But then again, I've never lived anywhere which is either absolutely good nor absolutely bad, and feel that regardless of where I live, I fight for those things I believe in, and struggle against those thing I don't.
