If we were truly intelligent apes we'd create a sustainable, non fossil fueled civilization to carry on when this one fails, but we probably won't. We'd rather fight wars that nobody wins.

So God was creating man. And his little assistant came up to him and he said: "Hey, we've got all these bodies left, but we're right out of brains, we're right out of hearts and we're right out of vocal chords." And God said: "Fuck it! Sew 'em up anyway. Smack smiles on their faces and make them talk out of their arses." And lo, God created the Tory Party.

True.
See here:
http://floridamanandwoman.tumblr.com/

Friendly reminder about laws in Florida: (Some good, some bad, some just strange.)

In Florida your gender on your license can be changed with just a note from your therapist confirming your gender, and the same is true for a marriage license.
Any “unnatural act” with another person is banned in Florida, which technically excludes all positions except missionary.
Unmarried couples cannot commit any “lewd acts” even if it’s in their own residence.
It was illegal to have sex with a porcupine but no other animal until a few years ago, when all bestiality was considered “animal cruelty”.
Unmarried women may not go parachuting on Sunday. Any other day is fine.
It is illegal to sing in public if you have a swimsuit on.
Men cannot be seen in public wearing a strapless gown.
It’s illegal to kiss your wife’s breasts. I guess that’s considered unnatural.
It’s legal to sell marijuana in certain places with a license but illegal to own marijuana.
All cell phones and electronic devices are technically banned in Internet cafes but of course no one follows that.
Domestic partnerships are only legal in some cities, but in cities where it is legal, same sex domestic partnership is legal.
It is considered an act of public nudity to shower naked.
Farting in public is illegal, but only after 6 PM.
Pregnant pigs cannot be confined to cages. It’s listed in the state constitution.
All doors MUST open outwards.
Chickens are considered a “protected species” in Key West.
It’s illegal to hang your clothes on a clothesline outside in Cape Coral.
You cannot skateboard without a license.

In what I was hearing from this elected politician was my initial response, before realizing he belongs in the realm of those nuts who try to tell us that the world is only 6000 years old. Unfortunately politicians and greedy corporations like Rep. I realize he is just pandering to his base that are uneducated hicks but he says this with a straight face?

Has he never read an article about the prevailing scientific theory that the dinosaurs were wiped out along with about 50% of all other living species as a result of a massive asteroid that struck the earth off what is now the Yucatan peninsula? Is he unaware that scientific evidence shows both levels of suffocating toxic gases in the atmosphere (thanks to ice cores) and a layer of charred carbon material that emanates and radiates outward from the suspected impact?

No the dinosaurs didn't die from manmade carbon emissions. Mankind as we know it today didn't exist at the time. We were on one of the early days of the Genesis story before God made man (and then his servant woman).

I swear the Republicans when I was growing up in a very conservative western state would never have said such nonsense. Nor would they have believed it. They were fairly "ordinary" people who simply had a different understanding of the role of government in society but they didn't consider all taxes bad or that the government should be shrunk until it could be drowned in a bathtub.

I frequently think: What if dinosaurs had developed a technological civilization before they all died? Would we even be able to tell?

I suspect that if it had been the kind of world-wide civilization we currently have, we would have long ago found the evidence of it, but nonetheless, I love to speculate.

Which means, as far as clowns like Miller can tell, the dinosaurs DID wipe themselves out, sort of like we seem to be planning to do.

Mon Jun 9, 2014, 10:36 PM
Jun 2014

&quot Reuters) - In a major new climate finding, researchers have calculated that dinosaur flatulence could have put enough methane into the atmosphere to warm the planet during the hot, wet Mesozoic era."

"Like gigantic, long-necked, prehistoric cows, sauropod dinosaurs roamed widely around the Earth 150 million years ago, scientists reported in the journal Current Biology on Monday."

"And just like big cows, their plant digestion was aided by methane-producing microbes."

"A simple mathematical model suggests that the microbes living in sauropod dinosaurs may have produced enough methane to have an important effect on the Mesozoic climate," researcher Dave Wilkinson of Liverpool John Moores University said in a statement."
