Unless you are on record for major gun legislation (I know my mature, adult dream of eliminating guns cant happen in my lifetime so I have pivoted) that would greatly limit access to guns and types of guns based on a variety of criteria, you are personally responsible both civilly (money or damages) and criminally.

I fear for my life everyday now as an outspoken liberal, for my wife's life.

I can see right here at DU people hate me for my positions, can you imagine what righty thinks when he sees what I write?

I am in deep trouble, not gonna shut up though

I seldom wade into gun issues/threads, but the type of fear you are describing is not healthy. Please get some help dealing with it.

Yes, there are shootings, senseless violence, etc, but statistically, it is unlikely to happen to you or your family.
Yes, we (society) need to stop it, but retreating into fear isn't the right way to deal. Good luck.

that would be the sign of someone who would be dangerous owning a gun

But your response is a good one, to UNPRECEDENTED gun violence, I express fear and you mock me...

If you only knew how out of touch that makes you look..

Let me help this along, dont respond to me and I wont ever to you again, problem solved

Fatal gun violence is down as well.

Not to unprecedented rates, but still low rates compared to the peak of the early 1990s.

I can assume that, for some, the most important thing will be getting the type of gun and ammo just right.

The best part is when they say, "I would agree to that." As if they, as gun owners, have the final say in regulations. As if those who do not want their loved ones killed, or those who have lost them have less of a say.

Perhaps because they fight tooth and nail against them. Well they own these deaths, just as if I fought against safety nets and food stamps would own those. Their fear has consumed them.

“This shouldn’t happen in Troutdale,” Max Maydew, a grandfather of two Reynolds High School students, told The Oregonian. “You don’t expect something like that to happen in your hometown.”

Maybe it was his shock talking, but it shouldn't happen anywhere, Mr. Maydew. Sadly, I do expect it to happen anywhere.

That is part of the problem. They are treated by both policy makers and media as isolated events. I personally think they are tied to the anomie that has been rising in the country.
