(8,621 posts)Cantor can be the republican Joe Lieberman.
I think Cantor would do it out of spite.
Then again, maybe he could win in the general election.

Write-in a possibility, but unlikely she says.

(33,424 posts)If you run in a primary and lose you can't run in the general as an indie or third party. The so-called 'sore loser' rule that most states have.

(5,425 posts)I thought I heard on Rachel that Virginia has a "sore loser law" that prevents an incumbent from running in the next general election if they lose their primary. So Cantor can't run at all in 2014. (Surely instead he'll have to accept the consolation prize of getting paid a million a year as a lobbyist. Poor guy.)
On edit: oops. I see several already said as much. It's early here and I haven't had my Mountain Dew yet. :/

(6,324 posts)That was the big issue in this race. That is quite a message to any Republican, and many Democrats in moderate districts.
It will never see a vote- probably not even in the Senate now.

(3,517 posts)Not sure it relates everywhere.

(6,324 posts)Immigration reform was going to be done on a razor thin margian anyway, if it happened.
Now? No way.
I bet Kay Hagan is already changing her website right now. It is going to be a tight race here in NC and she will see that writing on the wall.

(22,871 posts)If it was low enough, this Brat dude may be too conservative to win a general? I really don't know much about his district.
notadmblnd
(23,720 posts)I've also read that many conservatives consider Brat a liberal.

(8,170 posts)Primary tea baggin' last cycle is the only reason the Dems maintained a majority in the Senate.
Keep on baggin! The crazier the better!

(21,115 posts)radicals....who are even more rascally radicals....they are so incensed they have caused some to go off the deep end and shoot up some cops....that won't score any points with the less radical members of the party.....they don't feel comfortable standing next to actual cop killers....now those guys are starting to remind them of Timothy McVeigh. They don't like getting that kind of stink on them.....

(3,580 posts)The district is solid GOP and spread out to limit minority votes but more folks from the city moving to the district. It's risky for dems if some of us voted for brat to take cantor out, there is also a libertarian running on there ticket. However there was some rumbling a few days ago dems were thinking cantor could lose if enough people voted for brat in the open primary, hint hint
Lee-Lee
(6,324 posts)Then they just killed immigration reform, because that was the big issue in the race (based on what I read, did you see different there?) and every republican and lots of Democrats in conservative districts will see the message that immigration reform is a hot potato not to touch.

(3,148 posts)Fuck Eric Cantor! Don't feel sorry for him one bit. My second thought is the guy that beat him must be more of a teabagger so fuck him too.
savalez
(3,517 posts)He'll be a bigger D-Bag than Cantor if he wins. Maybe now there's a chance he won't. Some say slim. Not my district so I don't know. But Cantor losing is definitely good news today.
GoCubsGo
(34,914 posts)...he won't get Cantor's House leadership position. It will still go to some other fuckhead, but that's a given, considering that's all there are in that party. But, we won't have to put up with Bitch Face any longer.
