I don't understand your comment. It was a simple question and we are all entitled to our opinions on the matter.
Of course the Iraqi's have to deal with the disaster and sort it out, but that has nothing to do with the validity of the question. I certainly am convinced of the answer.

(10,650 posts)Saddam was a thug and a murderer, but he kept the lid on the pressure cooker. Like most despots he killed those who outwardly opposed him, but generally the great majority of the population had fairly normal lives for that part of the world.
The death toll since the invasion has been staggering. Everyone is in harms way. And, Humpty Dumpty isn't getting put back together again.

I live in a community with a significant number of Iraqi immigrants, many that escaped Saddam Hussein (they feel they barely escaped with their lives).
Many left family in Iraq ... the consensus seems to be neither pre-invasion or post invasion Iraq was "good" (acceptable/safe for them .... )
