to a moron like Bill O'Reilly? Why would any Democrat care what that idiot thinks of them? Yet, there is Obama so ashamed to be called a Liberal by O'Reilly.

Wow!

Um, is there some other link you have to Obama on Fox trying to convince O'Reilly that he's not a Liberal?

How sad, I would have agreed with O'Reilly and insisted I am even more left than he thought already and to 'watch me' work to increase Social Programs.

O'Reilly had him on the defensive on something he should have been able to use to wipe the floor with that ignorant jerk. Instead he's practically pleading with him to please believe him, he's NOT 'that' Liberal.

Pretty damn sad, I agree with you. Fox and O'Reilly!

So why are you yelling at ME? I am not the one who gave the 'owner of the Fox Channel' the ammunition to post anything about the president.

And clip or not, are you saying Obama didn't say to O'Reilly what we heard him say?

Talk to the WH about it, THEY made this decision, no me and not willy. It was a terrible decision, too bad Obama doesn't talk more to Liberals, but he seems to care so much what Republicans think of him, not so much what Liberals think of him.

eg. The President isn't obliged to do something simply because this is 'how it's always done'.

And 'getting through the interview' could have been accomplished much more effectively by simply stating, Bill, I am a Proud Liberal, like our Founding Fathers whose ideas and courage made it possible for you to have free speech regarding Politics, express your opinions, no matter how dumb, without the government knocking on your door. Well so long as you're not a member of OWS.

Is there something shameful about being a Liberal, and how would 'getting through the intervew' prevent him from making that simply statement, 'why yes, you are right Bill, I am a proud Liberal, like John Kennedy, among other great historical figures. Very proud. Btw, did you have a point, I don't want to miss it if you did.

viewers on why he is proud to be a Liberal. Was something preventing him from boasting about being a Democrat who believes in the same Liberal principles that Kennedy spoke about in HIS famous 'I am a Liberal' speech?

He has nothing to lose by showing pride in being a Liberal. By now it should be obvious that no matter how he tries to please Republicans they are going hate him anyhow. I would have been prepared for O'Reilly's taunting, but that's me. I would educated him and his audience on how wrong their policies are.

So would LBJ, Kennedy and I doubt Carter would make any excuses for being a Democrat. What would happen, they would still hate him, as they hate all Democrats. So, as I said, nothing to lose by putting them in their place.

He could have led the way to changing that 'tradition'. And it isn't a tradition for Democrats to be ashamed of being Liberals when attacked by Bill O'Reilly.

I remember Kerry not showing up for an interview with O'Reilly I believe he had enough of their garbage and wanted to make the point that they were NOT A LEGITIMATE NEWS Org. O'Reilly was stunned and had to search around for someone to take Kerry's place, he found someone, McAullif, who was late, so O'Reilly was left talking to himself. Many thought Kerry could not just not show up, it wasn't done!! Well, it WAS and a beautiful thing to watch.

So no, he did NOT have to go that illegitimate, pretend 'news' organization. Someone desperately needs to take a stand against them. And this would have been a great time to do it.

Nixon's term saw the birth of the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency), he is well left of Obama on this one.

Nixon also approved the ERA(Equal Rights Amendment), started ending the draft(replacing it with an all volunteer force), started the process of ending the Cold War, recognized and fought against foreign oil price gouging, and even used a decent method of diplomacy with China to reduce tensions.

I don't like Nixon, but Obama is to the right of him, which to me has always been an indication of the sad state of affairs.

Even Reagan acknowledged that Social Security is not tied to the deficit, while Obama has made comments entrenching that poisonous lie, repeatedly.

Social Security has nothing to do with the deficit. Social Security is totally funded by the payroll tax levied on employer and employee. If you reduce the outgo of Social Security, that money would not go into the general fund to reduce the deficit. It would go into the Social Security Trust Fund. So Social Security has nothing to do with balancing a budget or erasing or growing the deficit.

It is frustrating, but really, he is the reason I have become quite a bit less enthused about politics, since it really is dispiriting.

Saying that, I will still help out on the mid-term elections, and VA is where I am volunteering rather than MD where I live, which is pretty much safe.
