My review of the 'Today' show after watching Palin for about 30 secondsLast edited Tue Apr 3, 2012, 11:15 AM - Edit history (1)
Really?
The 'Today' sunk so low I'd have to dig a ditch in the Mariana Trench to reach that level of low. I guess they were talking about Oprah Winfrey's network and Lauer was asking everyone on the Today show if her network survived. Palin? "Only if she gets some conservatives and true patriots on there!" Really? You can't put politics aside for one whole hour, SIXTY FRICKING MINUTES just to try and show the world that maybe, just maybe you are NOT some aging cheerleader right-wing junkie for the GOP? It's the "Today" show. If anyone wanted that much political grandstanding that early in the morning they'd be watching Faux News. The people who watch "Today" want to see the weather and discussions about amusing personal interest stories along with celebrity chit-chat. My guess is she's got all those GOP talking points she memorized from her VP debate so deeply ingrained into her brain that if you'd ask her if she wants 'cream with your coffee' the first thing she's blare out is 'god-fearing patriots drink their coffee black because that's what Reagan would do. Cream in coffee is nothing more than that lamebrain liberal media trying to pull one over on us.' Seriously, Sarah, if you want to be respected by more than then 30% right-wing teabagging nutjobs you need to turn down the crazy rhetoric and act like a normal person. I didnt' stay on the Today show long enough to see if Matt Lauer popped an artery in his brain from the massive eye-roll he did but I could tell Sherry Shepard was annoyed. EDIT CORRECTION: That was not Sherri Shepard on the show but Star Jones. My bad.

49. Well
Somewhere around when Bryant Gumble quit they went to this "all fru-fru" format, weddings, remakes, general BS anything but politics, so I stopped watching. I used to faithfully tune-in, when it offered something of substance. It became puke-worthy, and I stopped watching.
It doesn't surprise me that they've stopped to getting her, and it's strangely coincidental that Katie Couric is on Good Morning America this week, which I also choose to not watch. Hey, Stephanie Miller is now on Current TV from 8-11 Central time. It's a great alternative to the BS on those channels. |

in politics would pass up an opportunity on national teevee to mention a little something about it - even a small remark.
Shoot. Even people here cannot pass up such an opportunity to talk politics in grocery store checkout lines, at gas pumps, at convenience stores, even at holiday dinners with relatives - we read about these encounters regularly. Would you expect Billy Graham to be on such a show and not once mention Jesus? Or Dr Oz not to mention good health? Or Al Gore not to mention the environment? on edit, removed an extra 's' |

70. You're trying to cheat. Without going all the way to the top to check, your statement was something
to the effect that Sarah Palin could not be on teevee for 60 minutes without talking about politics, it was NOT that she could not talk without alienating people.
The three folks I used as examples likely don't alienate *as many* as Palin does, but that wasn't the point. The point was that they would probably mention something that they are known for. Merely talking about their respective subjects vs alienating people while doing so are two separate discussions. So, I was in the checkout line at my local..... |
