Do we use Stormfront as a news source?

No, we ridicule them, at least.
Yet...
Putin's propaganda outlet is touted as a "news source."
Even after being exposed running Ron Paul CT, which includes old discredited "Jew conspiracy" CT.

(5,082 posts)More paranoid Ron Paul delusions. Is Al Jazeera America bad too? CNN is no better than RT...worse actually. Are we supposed to think Thom Hartmann is a righty because he supports constitutional rights and us antiNSA? He is more left wing than the poster I bet.

My god you can't even post about a humanitarian crisis if it involves ethnic Russian women and children if someone thinks it will reflect badly on someone or Putin has todays headlines.

(42,239 posts)What makes it even more tragic in the case of videos is the absence of the old DU2 rules concerning use of exact Youtube titles / subject lines as opposed to spun titles containing subjects not even mention in said videos.

A Democratic congressman offers a compelling vision of the costs of taking the bloodstained path of aggressive war.
Unilateral military action by the U.S. against Iraq is unjustified, unwarranted and illegal. The Administration has failed to make the case that Iraq poses an imminent threat to the United States. There is no credible evidence linking Iraq to 9/11. There is no credible evidence linking Iraq to Al Qaeda. Nor is there any credible evidence that Iraq possesses deliverable weapons of mass destruction, or that it intends to deliver them against the United States.
When Iraq possessed and used weapons of mass destruction, quite sad to say, it did so with the knowledge of, and sometimes with materials from, the U.S.
snip--
Unilateral action on the part of the U.S., or in partnership with Great Britain, would for the first time set our nation on the bloodstained path of aggressive war, a sacrilege upon the memory of those who fought to defend this country. America's moral authority would be undermined throughout the world. It would destabilize the entire Persian Gulf and Middle East region. And it would signal for Russia to invade Georgia; China, Taiwan; North Korea, the South; India, Pakistan.
snip---
America cannot and should not be the world's policeman. America cannot and should not try to pick the leaders of other nations. Nor should America and the American people be pressed into the service of international oil interests and arms dealers.

(5,082 posts)I've seen lots of good stuff on RT. Are we supposed to believe Al Jazeera America is propaganda too because it's based out of the Middle East. Our media is the worst but people aren't critically thinking regarding it. People seem to forget that fascism has reigned here since 911 and that fact hasn't changed.

I have to pick and choose what I deem worthy while sifting through it all. If one normally thinks critically, questions the answers and doesn't follow authority then it's a good start at least. If MSNBC had Cenk and Hartmann things would be different. Believe me I know there are things that are true about Russia that Putin would never allow reported but our media covers. But the same is true that suppressed stories about us that CNN would never cover RT could.

That's why a "former CIA agent" posts "Jews control the world" videos, and articles like this are welcome at RT.
PBS called it "The Oldest Hatred," hatred of "The Jews."
Anti-Semitism hit it's peak in Nazi Germany, with Joseph Goebbels and his "The Jews are to blame for everything" in his diary.
My sister spent several months on a Saudi USAF base, she said the conspiracy theories, outright hatred and lies are just thick.
In Poland, anti-Jew hatred is rampant, with even Lech Walesa calling one of his opponents in an election a "crypto-Jew."

(154,021 posts)For the record, you need to get out more, from the country I mean.
Our media is just as tendentious and full of propaganda. In fact, I find ours far less informative than a few other sources. That said, always be aware of the angle and be ready to spot the looney.
Oh and thanks for giving me a new angle to cover. No, antisemitism in the US is not as bad as let's say the ME, but it does exist. You are right it is old, but you speak as if that is only o'er there.

(154,021 posts)you want to find out what ELSE is going in the US, you need to look at those who ARE doing it, at the moment they are the Guardian. BBC, RT and Al Jazeera. And those are from the top of the list. I could include Milenio, and Deutche Welle in the list easily.
They all have agendas as to why or how they will cover these aspects, but they are just as tendentious and propaganda driven as ABC is. You just need to understand what is driving them. Once you do, it is easy to get the useful nuggets out.
You need to get out more, and I mean out of the country, and watch news somewhere else. becuase we are extremely sheltered as a nation. To the point that we refuse to think there is a world out there.
As I wrote when I was in Mexico oh three weeks ago, I learned more in a week of their energy policy and energy policy reform, GASP I know, than I have learned of American Energy Policy in three years of looking at it, and I have to claw my way through specialized material to get it. It is NOT on my TV, it is NOT on my daily. That IS a problem when we talk climate change. Then again, they are NOT in denial, or rather, those who are, well are not in charge of the government. (Boehner I am looking at you)
Secretary of Energy Coldwell and the Secretary of Education were on my TV too, two positions that here you will rarely hear from. Hell, their secretary of the interior has to run from cameras often. Secretary Jewell does not have that problem, and people would not recognize her in the street either.
I grew up with a very controlled press that could not do any of that. Ours is incredibly controlled. Get out more, I mean it.

(54,244 posts)...because something "nice" was said about Israel. Yet, the very next statement the man catches himself about to say "the Jews" and instead blames "Jewish American leaders" , that makes the bigotry a-ok in some people's minds. This was the quote from the video in question (from V&M) following the speaker saying Israel is an OK country:
(1:28-1:37) "The real problem are the Je---...is the leaders of the American-Jewish community in the United States who influence and corrupt our Congress to support Israel when we have no interest there."
Nope! No anti-Semitism there!
