Her mom is at the emergency room, and there's a "long wait" - damn that Obamacare!
I commented that I hoped her mom is okay, and that I'm happy for Obamacare because as a new cancer survivor, I'm really glad no insurance company can now deny me coverage. She answered that she's happy about that, but no one should be "forced" to have insurance. I commented that if they don't, they end up in the emergency room where we all end up paying for them anyway.
I also said that I *happily* pay for kids in my state to have Medicaid if they have parents who are jobless or whose own companies don't provide healthcare for them. In fact, I'd rather get employers out of the business of providing healthcare for their employees and move that the the federal government where currently Medicare has the lowest overhead of all healthcare providers.
Today was my last day of radiation for breast cancer, and I'm fortunate as hell to have insurance that has covered my diagnosis, surgery, radiation oncology, and all follow up visits. Yes, we'll pay some out of pocket, but it won't bankrupt us, I'm alive (yay me!), and I'm not worried about how I'm going to pay the bills.

(8,312 posts)She's called every one from the list on the state website of Medicaid PCPs in her county. She was able to find one for her daughter, but if she gets a serious case of bronchitis again it's to the ER she's gonna have to go.
There's a reason my state wanted to put the majority of Medicaid expansion people on the "Private Option", methinks. My friend's health was too poor for the insurers to want her, so she got assigned to regular Medicaid.

(27,275 posts)They must see black workers. Bus drivers, grocery store clerks, fast food workers, nurses, doctors, policemen, etc. I guess they would rather believe the rw noise machine than their lying eyes.

(12,629 posts)Believe it or not, Even though I have zero ta-tas, I rarely think about breast cancer these days.
And, all those promises I made about never complaining about how my hair looks, or how a blouse doesn't fit quite right? Well, let's just say life returns to normal after a while...minor complaints and all. A new normal, but life is indeed good.

It sounds crazy, but this is Facebook we're talking about here. Logic and reason is eternally suspended.

Her mom had a possible stroke, and I do hope she's okay.
