I thought this would be of interest to DUers, which it has proven to be, and I included the attached link to actblue, for convenience. I am so 'sorry' to those who think I was posting to 'bait and switch.'

(33,982 posts)I keep telling my republican co-workers, they still have at least one more election cycle to spend in the wilderness, more if they don't change on a bunch of issues.
They don't listen, which is fine, because it helps my prediction come true...

(6,440 posts)But of course, that could change. GOTV.

(7,931 posts)You knew people would think the link you provided would lead to a story about the poll. Instead it goes to a donation site.
All in all it is a bit dishonest to do that. You should indicate where the link goes.

(134,843 posts)Baggins. I posted the text from an e-mail, which I think is of general interest here, and the responses have proven that thought to be correct. I included the attached contribution form for convenience, and it is clear the link goes to actblue, which most know is for contributions. You are welcome to ignore either one or both.

(6,866 posts)of course I'm in favor. but watch for unintended consequences. I was captain of my dart team 12 years ago. One match left, the game 601 and we were on the double out before the other team got their double on. I told my team; "Rip their lungs out, guys!" and that whipped up our opponents so bad they took the match!
Hey, so sometimes channeling Hunter S. Thompson can backfire.

PS - i also got the donation email and paypalled an amount comparable to what the Koch bros donate in 37 milliseconds.

(7,931 posts)yet has nothing on the page about the poll.

(134,843 posts)The OP leads with: P0LL RELEASED MINUTES AGO.
The only 'error' I will acknowledge is my failure to place the entire post in "quotation marks."

(7,931 posts)But there is no poll results at the link, just a sign up page... That is misleading and dishonest.

(45,790 posts)The traditional population of North Carolina and the United States is more or less stable. Its not growing. The African-American population is roughly growing but the Hispanic population and the other immigrant populations are growing in significant numbers.

North Carolina State House Speaker Thom Tillis (R) fairly easily won his partys U.S. Senate nomination this year, after presenting himself as the most electable center-right candidate to take on Sen. Kay Hagan (D) in November.
He may have oversold his electoral qualities a bit.
We learned a month ago about remarks, first aired by msnbcs Chris Matthews, in which Tillis argued in 2011, What we have to do is find a way to divide and conquer the people who are on assistance. The Republican lawmaker described a vision in which policymakers pit those in need against one another, in order to cut off benefits for those on the losing end of the fight.
This morning, TPM reports on another striking quote from Tillis recent past.
State House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-NC), the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, said that the traditional voting bloc of his home state wasnt growing like minority populations in an interview he did in 2012.

In this case, you are correct if you said 'both ends' are the ass.

(5,402 posts)I was hoping to read breaking news. After all, you promised us a poll that was "RELEASED MINUTES AGO" (and it was capitalized to provide, what? clarity? Volume? Stridency? A certain je ne sais quoi that mysteriously provides legitimacy to the bait-and-switch that follows?)
Your link doesn't even connect to an article, but to a donation site.
Others, going to a donation link without any confirming article may be overjoyed and gushing out the ears with weird excitement, but I find the OP misleading, annoying, and actually counterproductive for the candidate (as far as raising money).

(1,145 posts)an anti-Hagan ad pretty heavily in NC (where I live) and the ad's content shows how clueless the Republicans are. It is an ad slamming Hagan and Obama for the "you can keep your health insurance" line when the ACA was first rolled out, as if that line of attack is still on everyone's minds. Then it blames Hagan for working to cut Medicaid payments to the state, as if Pat McCrory actually agreed to the ACA expansion in NC and Hagan messed it up somehow.
The Republicans are ridiculous and they've gotten to the point of serving up a plate full of dumb to their loyal Carolina Republicans who'll vote for them no matter what they say or do.

'Theres good news coming out of North Carolina, and I had to write.
A brand-new Public Policy Poll has my friend, Senator Kay Hagan, ahead of her Tea Party opponent Thom Tillis by five points! This is Kays largest lead since September.
This poll tells the story weve known all along Kays race in the Tar Heel State is absolutely winnable, despite the Koch brothers Americans for Prosperity already spending more than $8 million attacking Kay.
Were at a key moment in this race Kay has her biggest FEC filing deadline of the campaign yet on June 30, and she needs a stellar showing.'
