I have questions about something that has come up recently-

Medtronic's is moving to Ireland- and of course, everyone is yelling about "taxes," pointing that out as a reason they are making moves to other countries.
My question is this- is the tax "problem" more smoke and mirrors from the GOP? Looking at this particular company, I wonder if they will sell more of their products to a population who has better access to healthcare- a population that isn't terrified of "how much will this device cost?"
Would the employees in Ireland have easier retirements-
I am beginning to wonder if we aren't seeing some of the companies move to Europe because many of the countries do not have the same problems we do- workers saddled with horrific student loan debt, workers (and in this case, consumers) not having to declare bankruptcy over medical issues- Frankly, if I were a CEO, those issues would matter to me- and not having gun nuts around would just be the icing on the cake.
Thoughts?

(531 posts)Ever since not even "liberals" like Clinton and Obama bother to enforce the tariff laws. Just what their corporate owners wanted.
We can whine all we want but the problem is with those we pick to enforce the laws.
Pick a corporatist get corporate polcies. Want liberal and progressive policies vote for liberals and progressives. Yes it is just that simple.
