Police officers had a 7-year-old Shar-Pei named Nala under control when one officer, Jeffrey Bolger, killed her by cutting her throat open, authorities said. The incident is under investigation and the force has condemned the officer's alleged actions."
Baltimore cop allegedly slit the throat of a dog that officers had under control.
Jeffrey Bolger, 49, was booked on felony animal cruelty charges Wednesday, his department said.
"I'm going to (expletive) gut this thing," he said before killing the pup, according to charging documents.
His colleagues say Nala, the 7-year-old Shar-Pei, was restrained on a dog-control pole and posed absolutely no threat to Bolger on Saturday, the Baltimore Sun reported."
"She was just the sweetest dog and would never hurt anyone," Gossard told WBAL. "She was just scared that day, and through all of those events being scared and lost, thirsty, hungry yes, I'm very sure that she bit someone, but the actions after that were not OK."
Fleischer says the dog bit her out of fear, but blamed herself for touching Nala. Police reportedly arrived on scene and contained the dog who was not aggressive using sticks.
"You could hear the dog screaming and crying in pain,"

(27,215 posts)Cruelty to animals is never OK.
And, for those who prioritize humans, cruelty to animals is often a precursor to cruelty to humans.

(3,183 posts)A sick pos like this had to show some kind of warning signs.

I'm not saying every police officer is a sadist, but I think it is position that attracts sadists, and if they are clever enough to hide behind of veneer of respectability long enough to get through training and into a powerful position.....
I just think this guy's blood lust took over, and he revealed himself for what he really is.

(11,065 posts)or suspended or something for being the one to hold the dog still for the officer to do the killing.
I'll have to look for that again since I can't remember the details off the top of my head.
On Edit: Found it...

Baltimore police suspend another officer in dog killing
Officer Thomas Schmidt is accused of holding Shar-Pei down while Officer Jeffrey Bolger slit its throat, police say
June 19, 2014|By Justin George, The Baltimore Sun
"A second officer has been suspended as the Baltimore Police Department investigates a case in which a dog's throat was slit.
Officer Thomas Schmidt, a 24-year veteran assigned to the Emergency Services unit, was placed on paid administrative leave after police say he held down a Shar-Pei while a fellow officer, Jeffrey Bolger, slit the dog's throat."
Wow, I just saw the mug shot of the officer that killed the dog and actually jumped... he looks like a cartoon character of a crazed blood thirsty thug...

(3,183 posts)The fact that more than one was involved is, well are there words? How disgustingly sick and cruel can two people get?

(11,065 posts)There having been a second officer holding down the dog is just too overwhelming. I'm hoping that he only happened to be holding the dog still to keep it under control when the murdering freak swooped in and killed it without his knowing the freak would do it. But his having said he was going to "gut" the "fucking" dog I can't imagine the other officer wouldn't have known he was going to do something horrible. I don't understand why this second officer is only suspended and not charge as an accomplice.
get the red out
(13,468 posts)I would be insane and probably in a mental institution by now. I can't stand the thoughts of this. This cop deserves worse punishment than any animal cruelty conviction will give him. They held down someone's pet and slit its throat while it screamed in agony. What fucking psycho does it take to do this? I guarantee he wouldn't give a damn to do it to somebody's kid either.
I don't think I could get over something like this, I don't want to find out, these fuckers need to be brought under control and civilized or booted out. This story along with the little boy that got blown up with the grenade that is supposed to be non-lethal but landed in his crib when the SWAT team raided the house looking for someone who wasn't there, who might have had a small amount of drugs, have me really enraged lately. Along with being scared to death.

(11,065 posts)My dog is my best friend and my family. He's my son. I have a REALLY hard time even reading horrible stories like this. Another one I just couldn't stand was the death of 28 dogs piled into a 10 x 10 room without air conditioning while the owners of the so-called "Disneyland" boarding home left them and went on vacation. Sicko.

(13,468 posts)I feel actual pain over dogs suffering. I'm sitting in a hotel ro at an agility trial looking at my tired little buddy and I can't fathom how people neglect and harm them.
