And it struck me how far news has fallen in this country. Lamborghini? A news story? And Aussie actress?

(14,449 posts)it was about disability fraud......apparently everyone getting disability is frauding the government.......ok they didn't say that exactly, but.....

(46,301 posts)Not *ONCE* did they actually talk to anyone on disability, or find out the facts about how these people went on disability.
The closest they got was a lawyer who makes a lot of money catering to disability appeals.
This was a hack job as bad as the Benghazi fiasco.

(68,644 posts)Stories about the Jacksons, or other celebrities, over exposing criminal activities, that's when they lost me.
Many years ago, they and their networks sold out.

(18,219 posts)The thing that bothers me the most is that there used to be 60 Minutes as THE news show that did hard hitting reporting. And because of it's popularity, several other news shows came along. Today, every other one of those news shows has disappeared or changed the format to "real life mystery".....Dateline, 48 Hours.....useless.
And I am sorry to see 60 Minutes going down the tubes as well. Since I don't have cable, I don't get all the 24/7 news channels. That is why I am here so often. DU is now my go-to place for news.
ChairmanAgnostic
(28,017 posts)that is not the purpose of DU. Nor of any progressive place. Analysis, fine. Heads up, fine. Opinion, fine. But being a source?
That is so sad for our society.

He will tell the news that he's told to tell and he will tell it the way they want him to tell it.
