Have you been drawn into the "Coconut water" fad?

Because I have. It just taste really, really good! Yep, it is stupidly expensive, but you can find it on sale and in cheaper generic brands if you look.

That's where I get mine. The boutique brands are pricey but the Goya I get is just as good.

I'm guessing if it is real stuff, maybe the transportation costs are a lot? If it comes from islands in the Pacific (or wherever) I mean.

We had dwarf trees in our yard growing up. I drink about a gallon of fresh coconut water weekly and love the jelly. Coconut water is great for your kidneys. It's dirt cheap here, but
lots of folks in Florida have trees.

If it is sweet, I'm not interested. The sweetest I get is Low Sodium V8 juice, and I can drink that for a pick me up by the quart.

What is it, exactly? It is water run over coconuts, or ground up coconut in water or something?

You need to grate the flesh from a fresh coconut, and then soak it in water. Then you squeeze it out in cheesecloth. Voila. Coconut milk.

Coconut water is the liquid that is naturally inside a fresh coconut.

Raunchy as hell, but palm wine will knock you on your ass. I was drinking it in the Yoruba region of Nigeria, from which the fabled Palm Wine Drinkard originates.

That plus the pot they grew there made me hallucinate dinosaurs.

There they serve it in a coconut that they cut off the top in front of you and they also provide a spoon if you ask so that you can eat the coconut.

They have gotten smart and have the coconuts in ice or iced water because we tourists like the coconut water cold!

Nothing refreshes like coconut water when it is 100 degrees and 100% humidity!!!!

Have been a fan for many years. We make a yummy sweet rice substituting coconut water for half the water. Then stir in blanched almond slivers. Super yummy.
Great drink for hydration too
