The women, ages 33 and 35, were on the beach early Sunday, around 12:30 a.m. near Wilmington Avenue. They noticed a group of men in their early twenties -- 6 or 7 of them. One of the men looked like he was trying to record video of the women with his phone. They told him to stop.
Their demand was answered violently. The women told police that one of the men assaulted them, hitting them in the head and face and then took off with his friends. The women tried to follow the men to the boardwalk, but lost sight of them.

(14,449 posts)However, they are probably on their way back to their permanent location by now. Sunday is normally the day that people leave Rehoboth from partying the weekend. Hope they still are caught somehow.

(22,165 posts)Sadly, when I lived in Delaware we loved to spend weekends at Rehobeth Beach with our (then) young family. It was a lovely family destination.

(10,745 posts)Honestly, hitting people just because they asked him to stop recording them??? Some guys just aren't fit to be walking the streets.....
Hope the assailant and his coward buddies are caught soon.

(64,413 posts)Shame there wasn't someone there getting video of the crims beating these women. Bigger shame there wasn't someone getting video of someone beating the shit out of the guy(s) beating the women.

(53,661 posts)Being told to stop expressing their first amendment rights is wrong!
It just so happened they had to assault to defend their freedom! Because the 'tree of liberty' must be watered with the blood of anyone they can beat up on!
I'm sure that'll be their defense, that they have the Gawd given right to harrass women just like abortion protesters do. No doubt busy defending their actions on a MRA website as we type here.
Wonder if the video made it to youtube yet?
It'll be accompanied by plenty of anti-women slurs. Most know their routine by. All to protect themselves from the word NO.
A gang of guys beating women for saying NO is harsh, IMO.

(9,314 posts)clear that these guys should be locked up for assault. What they did is reprehensible.
Having said that, the women had every right to ask them not to video them, but the guy had a legal right to video them (in some places it is illegal to capture audio with the video).
If you are in a public place, anyone can take your picture or video you legally...that includes children, cops, buildings (except some military installations, etc.) If you are on private property and you are told either verbally or by signage that no photography is allowed, that is a difference case.
The only reason I am mentioning this is some people think a photographer must have permission to photograph them, and that isn't true.

Personally, if I am going to photograph a child I ask for permission - I don't have to but think it is polite and wise to do so.
