This time around, there are three different sets of paper towels on sale in the Costco flyer. You have a choice! Make it wisely and let Costco people know why you are picking the choice you are picking!
- Do NOT buy the Brawny brand paper towels (Koch brand!)
- Do NOT buy the Georgia Pacific multifold paper towels (Koch brand!)
- DO buy the Bounty brand right next to the coupon for the Georgia Pacific towels (NOT a Koch brand!)

Damn shame, too, since we *really* like the product. I'll have to dig a little further and see if they are still made by the Koch's.

(19,537 posts)Their owner at one time, William Bolthouse was working against marriage equality in California, etc. I think Kirkland later bought them out, but I don't have time to research it thoroughly now. Here's an earlier thread from DU on this pointing to a non-existent link now. Perhaps now that corporations are persons, stockholders can sue Bolthouse for same sex marriage if they got bought out ("married"
to Kirkland if they claim to be religious followers of the corporation that wants purity of them if they were earlier touting themselves as being a "Christian" corporation.

(8,646 posts)Kirkland paper towels are by far the best value, especially since they've finally gone to 'select-a-size'.
However, I must have thick and soft TP. I'm a TP snob and Kirkland doesn't cut it for me.
The brand I buy isn't the Koch brand though (AFAIK)

(24,135 posts)There's not much out there about Kirkland/Koch connection - I asked Costco several times via email about Koch Industries and
never got an answer. There's only a couple paper conglomerates chugging out huge quantities that Costco demands.
I buy the generic brand at Whole Foods - it's made from recycled paper and the cost diff isn't that much.

The link said it couldn't find the page I was looking for. There isn't much out there about Koch-Kirkland paper towel connection.

I found there are plenty of other paper towels out there that can replace Brawny quite nicely.
One thing I do worry about, however, is private labeling. For example, if I buy paper towels at Aldi, are they made by the Koch bro's?

Edit to add: I haven't used it for a while...it had a bug and owners were fixing it. It's been over a year ago but it was working perfectly.

(7,759 posts)totally owned by Koch bros. I wish we could get Costco to find another manufacturer. I hate the vulture capitalistic system we live under. All designed to keep us all on the plantation...even those who think they are not.
