Okay Republicans. You succeed at killing Obamacare, then we go for single payer, full stop. No more compromises. No more "Mr. Nice Guy". We begin by demanding that the Democrats go for Single Payer. No Dem gets nominated without being 100% in support of Single-Payer. No Dem.

The vast majority of the American people want ACA or single payor, just that many cant admit it as long as Black Prez is Prez

(15,429 posts)It will be completely radioactive as an issue.
You have to take the House, maintain the Senate, and start altering Obamacare to get to single payer.

(13,305 posts)Again, we're faced with the question on the part of our wonderful democrats as to whether this was incompetence (did they not have all of these aspects vetted by legal teams/lawyers/scholars?) or malice ("Oh, look at that, all these things that the Republicans/courts struck down. Goshdarnit, nothing we can do about it. Oh well. Better luck next generation!" .
Either way, that leaves the people without a party to defend them or advocate for their needs. The best we have is a "split the difference", "who are you gonna vote for the other guy?!?!?" party.

(47,803 posts)Give people a chance and a taste of voluntary no-bullshit public insurance based on a sliding-scale of income/rates as a choice. And sell that relentlessly as a win-win for the public.
Let that work for a while, which could pave the way for single -payer down the road.

(68,552 posts)First of all two GOP judges ruled yesterday...a full court will reverse the decision in DC. secondly you act like we could get single payer...we can't...we have what we have and eventually it will lead to single payer but if we want any sort of health care we must fight for what we have...it took 100 years to get this. 20 million people now have coverage and many would die without it. Get out and vote and give us a liberal Senate and House and then we can improve upon the ACA ...but you are completely naive if you think we could ever get healthcare again should the ACA fail. Democrats sacrificed their majority to get it...think about that.
