Russian Newspaper Runs Front Page Apology For MH17

A leading Russian newspaper has issued an apology on its front page, asking for forgiveness from the people of the Netherlands who lost their loved ones in the Malaysian Airlines plane crash.

The front page of Novaya Gazeta on Friday featured the words "Vergeef ons, Nederlands" (Forgive Us, Netherlands) in bold above a heartbreaking image of the line of hearses carrying MH17 victim's bodies.

Novaya Gazeta, a liberal newspaper, is well known for its anti-Putin position. The front page will certainly spark a reaction as Russia continues to deny that it had any role in shooting down the plane. A top pro-Russian separatist said this week that Ukrainian rebels did have the capability to take down the airliner. The commander later denied those claims, stating that he was misquoted.

Putin literally went hunting for the plane. It's stupid to even have to write this. As a cartoon, it is giving a graphic opinion of how the malicious and negligent attitude of Putin and the Russian gov led to the downing of an airliner and the death of all those passengers.

I honestly think the last couple weeks of bad news and tragedies has knocked some Putin sympathizers off balance, so they can't think straight about these things.

"It's stupid to even have to write this. As a cartoon, it is giving a graphic opinion of how the malicious and negligent attitude of Obama and the American gov led to the murder of an ambassador and the death of all those Americans.

Is truth the answer to that?...should truth be our principle or just something that is optional depending on whether we hate them or not?

And honestly I think the last few years has deformed our sense of justice and fair play to where we now are becoming like the right wing we pretend to hate.

And I have seen right wing cartoons against Obama and many others...you would be amazed just how many there are...I have been receiving them in email from a right winer I know for over 20 years...so I think I understand them real well.
It is the art of the personal attack...

And you then suggest that I love Putin...now how could that be true?...I don't know him and he is not my leader...I like most people know little or nothing about Russia so how could I love him?

What you are seeing is when you look at me is a disillusioned liberal because I see liberalism resorting to the same thing the right does and supports, and I no longer believe, and question everything.
But don't get me wrong, I don't make the judgment about things based on what I see on the TV or hear in the MSM...nor do I believe it or trust it just because I read it on a liberal board.

I call it like I see it, and that is how I see it.

Although I think that the people in the USA are becoming less wonderful all the time now that we have been divided into waring camps.

And even here on DU we are waring camps...even on this issue with the ones who believe that Putin is the new monster in the world and those who would never stoop to being a part of that kind of jingoism.
And the believers will insist that we all must agree Putin is a monster...and those who resent it will fight back even if it means not recognizing any truth in it if it should exist...or just STFU about it and let the rest of the world go nuts with the crazy hate talk, and let the MIC drag us down another path to war and economic ruin.

But we won't be able to blame it on the GOP this time...it is us that is dong it.
