... but he is a great songwriter. Love Willie and Waylon and by far, Johnny Cash. I think Waylon was the best singer, Willie the most entertaining, and Johnny.... well, just Johnny Cash. Nothing else to say!

I love these guys. Great Americana Music. I've been listening while surfing DU.

I own most of these guys on LP. I did not have this one.

Thank you for posting this.

I worked at a record store (for about six years). I rarely had much of a paycheck, it all went to LP's. Hah.

My son is the music director at the local community radio station, so I get a lot of great stuff from him.

On a side note: I had a beautiful little red bird-dog puppy show up not long ago. He refused to go so I adopted him. I named him Willie, after the "Red Headed Stranger". That was the first country album that I ever purchased. They are both a permanent member of my life now.

I've cut off for now at 35 minutes and will go back tomorrow to listen to the rest. It is an hour and a half of great country music. Wish I could listen to the whole thing at once but dinner calls.
Worth every minute!

Willie's voice is my favorite. That may because it brings me back to a good time in my life.

Willie, Kris, and Waylon were anti-invasion, Johnny was pro. Most of the songs they performed as a band but each took a highlighted solo turn and the others would do musical back-up. When it came time for Johnny's turn, a flag was trotted out on stage and he did some lame-o patriotic song. The others walked off the stage in silent protest until the song was done.

I booed and nearly gave my husband a heart attack.

I saw Kris perform at a county fair a year of so later. His voice hadn't gone to total pot, yet. He kept singing political songs and people started leaving and we (my husband, our 2 year old daughter, and I) moved up to the front. When the stands started to get pretty thin, he said, "People are always tellin' me to stick to my love songs. Well, I tell them, my political songs are my love songs." He also told my daughter to grow up to do good things which was, oddly enough, near what Michael Moore told her when he met her.
