it was awesome. Very mischievous to say the least. One day I was working in the garden and Charlie wondered off to the other side of the house and then came sneaking up on me from my backside and as I was leaning on one knee pulling weeds he put his snoot under my ass and tipped me over on my face then he just bounced around up and down from his front legs to his back legs just squealing like the devil. He really enjoyed it to say the least.
We'd take him to the creek with us and he'd dive in the water just like we would, it was so cool watching this pig play in the water.

It set fire to our garage.

Small fire...put out in time. Just a few scorched walls. Human mistake. Heat lamp for pig got pulled down into hay.

I loved that pig, but my parents put it in the freezer.

My daughter raised a couple of pigs once for her preschool at the urging of one of the moms who swore that Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs never got over 35 pounds. I told my daughter that was because the Vietnamese used to eat them at that size, but noooo, a militant vegetarian (the preschool mom) knew the facts. Also there were at that time plenty of articles in the LA Times about people abandoning their cute pets when they got to 150+ pounds, rescue societies like Little Orphan Hammie springing up...

I'm sorry to say I used to annoy my kid by greeting the now-pretty-big pigs as Pork Chop and Bacon. (Actually I'm not sorry; it must be my warped sense of humor.) They did finally have to find another home.

All that said, nearly all baby animals have that Squeeee factor built right in, and those Pigs-in-a-Blanket in the OP are absolutely adorable.

In experiments, they were taught to use their snouts to move cursors on computer screens to squiggles they recognized instead of those they didn't, a feat almost as complex as those displayed by chimpanzees. It kills me that they're kept in cages where they can't even turn and get sores that fester and get infected, for which they are treated with copious doses of antibiotics before being sent to slaughter. These are creatures that display sentience. That they're tortured in the manner they are is horrific.

The Humane Society U.S. is doing a lot to stop this terrible and literally torturous situation for pigs.

You tell me.. Human history is so full of killing other humans.

Those pigs are so cute that maybe they know something that we don't.

Besides, bacon is probably one of the worst foods for human hearts blood circulation that any one can imagine ...

SO..LEAVE THE PIGS ALONE..THEY ARE OK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

very bright and aware. They don't toture and slaughter us, as we do to them, in my book, that makes them superior.

A friend of mine has a couple of pigs. Got them both when they were babies and the older of the two, Mia (as in Mia Hamm, of course), is at least 7 or 8 years old. When my friend moved last year to a new home where the animals would have much more room to wander and cavort with the one another, Mia became absolutely terrified when they tried to load her onto a truck to take her to the new place, presumably because she had never known another home and didn't know what was happening. My friend tried to calm and comfort her and realized that there were tears running down the pig's face.

When she told me about that, she finished by saying "I just can't eat something that actually cries tears". And I realized that I can't, either.

So glad to find that there is bacon and ham and even pepperoni made from turkey and sausage made from chicken that are very adequate substitutes, with the bonus that they have considerably less fat and calories.

Please, don't let me find out that poultry cries tears, too...........

physiologically, and apparently emotionally.

not a big meat eater in any sense -- i'm too tired to cook it most days. i use a LOT of fake chicken/meat products because they're just easier, healthier.

but this completely breaks my heart. no more BBQ pork or al pastor tacos for me!

They are amazing animals, with intelligence and the the instinct to form strong bonds with each other and even humans, given half a chance. These lovely beings are literally tortured from birth to death on factory farms.
