Now, having said that, the propaganda has worked on me, when I am approaching one on the street or in front of a store, I tense up a bit.
I have owned a couple labs and a German Shepherd, so I should know better.

(10,362 posts)10. The number of lawsuits and lack of insurance will breed them out over time
http://www.humanesociety.org/news/press_releases/2014/04/md_neutral_dog_bite_law_040314.html
States are starting to pass dog owner liability laws, and pet owners will probably want insurance.
Pit bull insurance is high due to the number of disfigurements and fatalities they cause. Over the next hundred years or so, I think pet owners will opt for more gentle breeds.
Some companies won't even insure pit bulls any longer: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/03/pit-bulls-insurance_n_4869750.html
Those companies don't stop offering insurance based on myths. They know from their own internal numbers that pit bulls are dangerous. I have nothing against pit bulls or their owners, just pointing out that this breed will get a lot smaller over time.

I call her my grass eating doofus dog. Part goat, part pit bull. Her special talent lies in jumping fences so she has to go on a tie out when she goes out to potty. Other interests include chasing chipmonks and squirrels, going for car rides, belly rubs, licking blankets, and eating Thai food (drunken noodles, chicken, medium spicy).
