His particular target: venture capitalist Nick Hanauer, who is affiliated with the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility and has supported a Washington state gun control initiative. Hanauer has said his family fled Germany to escape the Nazis.

(10,136 posts)Fortunately, WA state does not take a lot of direction from the NRA. We locals are pretty good at weeding out the anti-gun nonsense on our own, and the NRA actively defers to us most of the time.
Unfortunately for I-594, it is a bad implementation of a good idea. Until we get a better implementation of universal background checks, we are better off without I-594.

(5,957 posts)Anytime there's a tragedy involving guns, they're out proposing ever more stringent laws, many times before the victims have even been buried. I see that as exploitation of the victims and their families - they try to use the emotions of the moment to pass legislation that would not survive objective scrutiny. NY's SAFE act is a great example.
