He was on a panel talking about Gaza, and was the sanest, most logical, reasonable person I have heard since this started. Basically he said :
This is a disaster, catastrophe and emergency. THEY HAVE TO STOP THE FIGHTING. JUST STOP. These people need water, food, medical care, the entire infrastructure, even sewage systems have been destroyed. We can get medical ships in there, and food, and start helping these people rebuild.
He didn't touch the politics of it all, and seemed disgusted no one is talking about the needs of the people.
I love him.

(8,694 posts)let our friends the Israelis go ahead and declare victory in Gaza, then get out, and let the people rebuild their lives. He was amazing.

(50,314 posts)his work in New Orleans, his way of getting to the heart of the matter in short order. He's right, the fighting must stop, the essential needs for survival - water, food, medical care, etc, are diminishing at a rapid pace in Gaza, it is untenable.
