Someone please help me here..

I started a thread earlier concerning the new Polling on the ACA.

One of the replies stated that he makes 25,000 a year and the cheapest plan he could find on the ACA was $307.. If thats true, its a big problem...

Aren’t there any subsidies available for this guy?

Just notified me he lives NYC..

You could ask for research assistance from DUers without calling the person out

One is that if a persons employer offers any health plan, or they can get one from a spouses employer, that makes them ineligible for subsidies if it meets minimum standards and costs less than 9.5% of household income.

Work for McDonalds? They offer a health plan- that makes you ineligible for subsides in many cases.

I suspect a large number of people getting subsidies may in fact not be eligible under this rule, but are getting them anyway- I know at least 3. Come tax time this may be a problem for a lot of people.

What it sounds like is that he indicated something akin to that he wouldn't be filing an income tax return, or that he wasn't eligible for a subsidy because of employer sponsored coverage.

And sadly, their efforts have paid off.

So infuriating I can't put it into words.

Waiting for reply..

Fact is the ACA is a life saver for all those who are on the medicaid expansion program..
Also a life saver for all those who can not find insurance due to prexisting conditions and of course all those on their parents hcare plan.

This guy could be old and has numerous pre existing conditions..

Let folks who make less than $15,000 a year or get it for free. Let folks pay ten cents on every dollar they make over $15,000 till they pay $150 a month. Pass a national one percent tax addition on all incomes over $25,000. The ACA could have been so much more. All its done is drive up insurance premiums on most middle class people, who are self-employed, I know and they are not happy. Open Medicare and Medicaid like said, and premiums will drop and people who need care will get it.
