Married police officers arrested in fatal shooting

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Two Tulsa police officers who are married have been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man who was walking with their daughter, authorities said.

Jeremy Lake was found shot to death Tuesday night on a street near downtown, Tulsa police department spokeswoman Jillian Roberson said.

Shannon Kepler, 54, was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder and Gina Kepler, 48, was arrested on a complaint of accessory to murder after the fact. Both were booked Tuesday night in the Tulsa County jail. It wasn't immediately clear whether they have attorneys.

The Keplers are City of Tulsa police officers, have 24 years on the force and were off duty at the time of the shooting, Roberson said.

Domestic violence "transcends all economic groups"?

There are a few things packed in that statement, imo. Do you see something odd there?

She turned him in, granted, after hours and hours, but I'm guessing she was getting him to "that place."

I'm betting she knew how volatile he was and she was better qualified than most to calm him down.

NOT excusing her, but, I can see why she might have taken him off the grid a bit. She might have saved lives. What are people supposed to do? If my SO was in power and had just killed someone, can't I take my time to make sure he calms down so he doesn't kill me and our children? You have to read the whole story.

I'm guessing her charges get reduced.

On Edit: My apologies. This story doesn't reflect what I read earlier. The story I read is that the wife initially either was called or called and knew what had happened and then went silent for several hours. Then she called again and told police she was bringing him in and where to find the guns. That story led me to believe she wasn't really at fault, but trying to calm her husband down. Yeah, none of us would get that consideration, but that's what it is.

was able to get away.

The article says that they had kicked her out of their home the previous week.

This sounds like extremely abusive parents who can't stand to see their victim escape their control. Maybe they were angry that the young man gave her a place to stay after they had kicked her out. Probably they intended for her to end up so desperste on the streets that she would crawl back and beg and be totally submissive.
