Former president Bill Clinton tore apart Sen. Mitch McConnell for his belief that it is not his job to create jobs while campaigning for Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in Kentucky.

Former President Clinton said that the Kentucky Senate race is about jobs, One candidate believes its about jobs and incomes and the other believes a senator has no business trying to create jobs. Nobody can tell me its not a senators job, especially one with 30 years of experience.
Clinton also explained why he supports Grimes, Alison, one of the reasons I really want her to win is she thinks there are a lot of smart people in rural America. She thinks there are a lot of good people in these small towns, and shes not going to you saying, Im not going to treat you like you have good sense and trying to make you mad all the time. Im going to tell what I want to do, and why you ought to be part of it.

Sen. McConnell doesnt want the Senate election in Kentucky to be about jobs, his incumbency, his record, or the Clintons. Mitch McConnell only wants to discuss President Obama. The problem is that this election isnt about Obama. Its about whats best for the people of Kentucky. Democrats are bringing their big guns to the Bluegrass State, and Mitch McConnell can only counter with more negative ads about President Obama.
The latest polling shows McConnell with a big lead in Eastern Kentucky coal country. The point of Clintons visit was to cut into that deficit. The margin in the Senate race could be razor thin. The difference between defeat and victory for Alison Lundergan Grimes could be her ability to limit McConnell margin of victory in the rural parts of the state.
Democrats are focused on Kentucky, and Bill Clinton is doing everything he can to help send Mitch McConnell into retirement.

(5,106 posts)While many of us were disappointed over Clinton's leftward promise, Obama has proved the same. Both of them far more conservative than their followers had hoped. Despite Republican claims that the U.S. has lost status over our recent Democratic presidents, just bombing everyone in sight has been, obviously, not the Cheney way to go. Obama's very premature Nobel Peace Prize speaks volumes. He certainly hasn't deserved it, but the truly civilized world was just HOPING, big time!

Hopefully he will be back and helps her get the votes she needs. The Clintons will need all the help they can get in 2017 and President Hillary Clinton not having to deal with McConnell will be great.

I'm wondering if that was preceded by recognition if not an apology for politics that promoted off-shoring that hurt the US economy?

Not to sound cruel, but my heart will eventually go the the candidate I consider strongest because the worst Dem on the planet is likely to do more good (or at least less harm) than the best (ach!) GOP prospect. And to me, the overwhelming necessity is to politically rid the planet of as many conservatives as possible as soon as possible. I can't and won't play personal favorites with that at stake.

(4 posts)I wonder why Obama isn't popular in Kentucky? Could it be his clothes? Could it be his political beliefs? I would say what I really think but I can't use the "N" word or it wouldn't get printed. I would like to visit the south to see how people lived a couple of centuries ago.

(171,094 posts)you can always get your point across without using the 'n' word. Because he's black? That's a big part of it. Because there are a lot of ignorant people around? That's another factor.
