It wouldn't have mattered if Michael Brown was a MURDERER.

It doesn't matter that he just committed a robbery at a convenience store minutes before being shot. The police cannot shoot someone in the back who is running away without that person being an immediate threat to the public. The police cannot shoot someone with their hands in the air, surrendering, even if that person had JUST COMMITTED MURDER!

It seems some posters here think that just because Michael Brown robbed a convenience store means he deserved to be shot down like a dog in the street.

However, that video certainly shows that the young man was aware of his size and not unused to intimidating people. A much smaller store owner in this case. Which is wrong. Stealing is wrong. Assault is wrong.

We don't know if he went for the cop's gun. If he did...hey...bad news, that WILL get you killed.

I don't know what happened. None of us do.

Based onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn??

Assumptions?

I assume you think Michael Brown deserved to be killed for walking down the street then.

Let's walk down the street on a nice day, and when a cop rolls up on us, let's do what NO ONE in their right mind would do, try to steal a cops gun... lol FOR WHAT REASON WOULD HE DO THAT??

the mass killers (mostly white) of late have been arrested alive. After they have killed people in front of others, police have made the effort to keep them safe. I would rather all be treated with some sense of respect for their lives. It's a double standard that reflects a society that devalues people of color. It should bother us all.

We don't have all of the evidence. The police say he went for the officer's gun and the officer suffered injuries to his face. If true, then yeah, that's the sort of thing that has bad consequences. If you don't believe me, go up to the next cop you see and try to take their gun. It won't end well for you.

The video seems to show that Michael Brown was not a gentle giant and was prone to violence. To me that suggests it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility for him to have tried to same with the cop.

There are numerous threads where people insist that what is shown in the convenience store tapes can't possibly be robbery since it was only a low value pack of cigarellos - with many people correcting that misunderstanding of the law (with most clearly stating that naming what went on in the convenience store correctly has no bearing on the later police behavior).

Please link to a single post on DU where anyone has asserted that if Michael Brown robbed a convenience store, he got what was coming to him when police shot him, because I have not seen any statements here that even even come close to that.
