Officer in Fergison goes on twitter rant; calls protesters thugs, threatens to assault AG Holder

A Velda City police officer who has been part of the militarized police apparatus holding down operations on West Florissant Avenue is spreading lies about Ferguson protesters online.

Sergeant Mike Weston, going by the handle "officeranon2" on Twitter, engaged with users of the social-media network about a tear-gas attack by St. Louis County police on protesters in their own back yard on Monday, August 11. In the conversation, a Twitter user wanted to know why police would fire tear gas at people on their own property. Weston tells them it's because protesters were firing guns from their back yard. But that's not true, as evidenced in the video below.

Daily RFT was in the back yard that was tear-gassed and caught the incident on video. No shots were ever fired anybody in the back yard, and each person had their hands up in protest. Here's that video:

Daily RFT contacted the Velda City Police Department, and Weston confirmed the account was his and explained the allegations he made against Ferguson residents who were attacked with tear gas on their own property.

"I wasn't spreading misinformation," he said. "There were shots being fired some yards, maybe not this particular one."

Weston then admitted that he wasn't in the group of police officers that was marching down the street and firing tear gas into yards. He said he was in the back closer to the command center, several blocks away...

Not to mention its a realistic threat, this person, if they truly are an officer in the Ferguson PD, may have access to Holder.

removed) who live in the vicinity (either Ladue or Olivette) and I remember their being incredibly racist, although I've had nothing to do with any of them since late adolescence some 40 years ago. I remember the suburbs they lived in were almost exclusively white, while blacks were confined to the inner city (and maybe University City, but don't remember). I remember hearing the name "Kirkwood" from time to time, but remember nothing about it.

That racism seems like such a foreign mindset to me now; I doubt I'd be able to live amongst them for very long without shooting myself or drinking myself into a coma.

on the other side of the river, at least in many cases, to get away from the blacks in U City and other inner ring suburbs. Kirkwood is still mostly white, and has its own racist attitudes. I grew up in St. Charles, which is extremely racist, but also very localized and/or odd. While I was at high school, from early to mid 1990s, our star football player was black and dated a white cheerleader all that time, never heard a bad word about it at school, in fact I don't think anyone, or myself remarked on it as anything unusual.

having heard that some of them moved there (maybe to avoid having their kids bussed into integrated St. Louis schools?). Like I say, I've had nothing to do with that side of the family for many years but St. Charles rang a distant bell.

localized controversy because an inner ring suburb, Normandy, which is majority black, and right next door to Ferguson. Normandy's school district lost accreditation this previous year, and the district was supposed to pay to have its students bussed to surrounding districts, and the one chosen was Francis-Howell, which is located mostly in St. Peters, which is in St. Charles County. Lawsuits were filed, racist parents are up in arms, etc.

intense scrutiny from the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction. So is this officer going to be investigated or relieved of duty? That comment almost verges on sedition, save that one might argue that 'punch him in the nose' is rhetorical hyperbole. As I say, though, I'm growing alarmed at the levels of rhetorical excess, mostly from LEOs at this point.

Funny because pot meet kettle. Oh and hey the cops have nothing to worry about if they have done nothing wrong, right? That and as long as they follow orders when the feds say they will be just fine.

Look at the bright side Mr. Weston at least you won't be shot for arguing with a fed or not following orders fast enough. Remember that next time you think about shooting an unarmed black man.

just wasn't really acknowledging it. This country, now that the racist genie is out the bottle, is like Humpty Dumpty, AFTER, he fell off the wall. The RW are stomping on the pieces, the LW can't find the pieces and no one will be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Foolish, foolish racist who think they are justified in being such. Such a sad, true testament to the myth of a color blind-post racial society. What a fucking joke.....don't get me wrong there has never been a color blind amerikkka or color blind individuals. That's a myth also.
